FW and RAIN!!!!

Any suggestions though for a 6 and 8 year old? (We do not have theme park tickets, and I don't think they like beer.)

Nothing to stop you from using the pool in the rain (hey, wet's wet!) or hanging out at the beach and playing in the sand.... um... mud. (adults can hide under an umbrella with the beer :thumbsup2)

When we were kids the coolest thing ever was when our parents would let us go out and play IN the rain. Stomping through puddles??? Best thing EVAH!

And one of my favorite memories was when I was about 7 and we were camping in our popup in Mass. on July 4th. It POURED!! As in 'can't see 10 feet in front of you'. The campground had their own fireworks, so my parents outfitted us with "trashbag ponchos" and we sat under umbrellas and tried to make out the fireworks. We thought it was so cool! :umbrella:

Ooh - and you can fish in the rain too! :fish:

ok, yeah, all my suggestions involve getting wet... :upsidedow

we are here too. we didn't bring jackets or pants either. it's kind of chilly out. just hanging around in the 5th wheel today.

I saw a site over in the 2000 loop when we were there a few weeks ago that had a huge tarp up over almost the entire site- I might try to do something like that if it is supposed to be nonstop rain- at least that way we can sit outside and stay somewhat dry.

Excellent ideas. I am sure we will visit DTD at least once. How does one cover the entire site with a tarp?

And I love all of your suggestions! lol. I love to play in the rain! And my kids will too. It's the lightning that bothers me. :scared1:

Okay so I need to buy: 1) giant tarp to cover the entire site. 2) ponchos 3) lots of extra towels!!

Thanks you guys, you are helping me to think positively about this. The funny thing is the first time we were at the Fort and we got caught in the downpour and the darn First Up leaked (which I have since remedied).....I was worried about the kids being upset because it was raining. They didn't even care that everything was all wet, they had a ball! They were just so thrilled to be at the Fort. I must keep reminding myself of this. lol.

Don't let a rain be a downer for you. On of my favorite all time park days was at Animal Kingom in the rain. Cleared the park out and we rode the Safari ride 3 times in a row. Got great photos and the animals were very active in the rain. Everyone is right, once you are wet, you are wet.....might as well keep on truckin'

Riding Kali River Rapids in the rain is fun too!!!

Crocs that are a little bit worn are slippery on wet pavement - trust me - I know! :lmao:

Yep, you are definitely correct on this. Been there, done that -- I landed on my butt real quick with worn crocs. :headache::headache: I always make sure I wear a fairly new pair when it's raining.

"Excellent ideas. I am sure we will visit DTD at least once. How does one cover the entire site with a tarp?"

The site I saw seemed to have a 30x50 approx size tarp and had it tied up to the trees with long ropes at about 7 ft high. It hadnt rained that weekend, but was very sunny and hot, so I'm guessing that they were using it more for shade than anything. When we used to tent camp- we would do something similar to keep the tents protected from the rain so I have a few good sized tarps that I am planing on putting up since there is a 40% chance of rain all weekend and we have a leaky roof on the pop up that DH hasnt fixed yet :scared:

If you need to buy the tarps/ropes- I suggest Walmart- around here at least they have the cheapest prices- the largest tarp is about 50 bucks and they have yellow nylon rope in the camping section for a dollar or two per pack. Also- dont forget a step ladder or something else you can stand on to get enough height on the tarps ;)

I am not going to let the rain wash us out though- Sunday is DS 8th b-day and we are going to have fun rain or not! I'm planning on going on Splash Mountain and River Rapids as much as we can and I promised the boys they can get as dirty and muddy as they want and I wont yell at them :scared1: I may even join in on the fun

Heres to getting soaked at Disney this weekend!!! :drinking1

If you have a Harbor Freight in your area, they are super cheap on tarps.

Wow, very cool idea about the tarp. Hmm, I wonder if I could do that by myself? I may not attempt it this trip but it's a very smart idea.

I am psyched! Rain and all, I can't wait to get to the Fort. And I am looking forward to meeting you guys! :cheer2:

The tarp idea sounds like an awesome idea rain or shine. My popup has a nice, but same awning. If I put a tarp up at the back of the site that covered a large area, hmmmm. Yes, excellent idea guys. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We always use the 'Blue Roof' when we camp in our popup but we don't when we camp in our TT. The tarp really provides shade as well as extra protection from the rain!
