Fuzzies shedding from fleece sweatshirt?

My DS got a new Nike hoodie from my mom for his birthday. He loves how soft the fllece is when its new. He wore it to school though and when he took of the sweatshirt his t-shirt was absolutely covered in blue fuzz. He had to put it back on for the day.

I told him I could wash it for him to try to get rid of the fuzzies, but he says sweathshirts are never the same after you wash them. He wanted to enjoy the softness of this one for a a while before it needed to be washed.

So...is there any other way to get rid of shedding fuzzies from a sweatshirt besides washing it? This is the first time this shedding has happened with a Nike sweatshirt for him.

All clothing should be washed before wearing anyway, but no, there isn't a solution to the shedding other than washing. A lint roller will help a little but not much.

When my kids sweatshirts get like that on the outside I take a new disposable razor and gently go along where is needed to get the fuzzies off. it works like a charm. You didnt say if it was the inside or outside of the jackets.My son is Autistic and likes the soft feel so not sure if the razor would work on the inside or not but worth a try on a small spot.
re read what you posted.. what if you turned it inside out and put it in a pillow case to wash it.it will still stay soft.not sure if that will help with the shedding .

It will stay softer longer if you avoid fabric softner.

My north face jacket used to 'shed' onto my shirts because of the static. In winter I have to run it through the dryer every week with a fabric softner sheet. As long as I do that it does not leave little gray fuzzies on my shirts.

I'd turn the hoodie inside out, and run it through the dryer with a fabric softner sheet a few times and see if you can decrease the fuzzies then honestly I'd make sure when he wears it that you've run it through that routine recently.
