Last June, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opened in Disneyland, California. Disney Imagineers have revived this classic 1959 Disneyland attraction and added Finding Nemo to it. The problem? Walt Disney World has ended up with a Finding Nemo attraction in Epcot, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, that has no submarines. Instead, it has Clamshell ride vehicles called Clamobiles. Comparing the two, what would you rather ride now, Little Mermaid clams or submarines? For those of you who think there is nothing wrong with riding the Clamobiles, think again. Epcots philosophy represents teaching about and showcasing the future, and The Seas with Nemo and Friends is located in the Future World section of the park. Visit Epcot, and youll notice that all of the other attractions in Future World have futuristic and/or conventional ride vehicles, but not the Seas ride. Although Disney is trying to make money for the sake of the Disney/Pixar films, an attraction should fit into the theme of a park. If you have kids, show them this article and ask them what they prefer to ride.
