Today in my Foundations to Teaching Reading course we were given alot of homework, which I expected. One assignment was looking up a list of basic vocabulary terms in our text. However, I can't seem to find this: Gradual-release of Responsibility Model. I have not found it on the book and tired looking it up online, but I get all kinds of charts. Is there any teacher out there that can explain this to be in simple terms? It would be greatly appreciated.

ETA: This assignment will not be graded, it is just for us to have as part of the notes - so I this isn't actually considered cheating, it is just getting help! :goodvibes

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Gradual release of responsibility model

The gradual release of responsibility model depicts a progression in which students assume increased responsibility for their learning over time. Initially, the teacher assumes most of the responsibility for successful completion of a reading or writing task. Students gradually assume more responsibility so that the work is shared. Eventually, students assume total responsibility for completion of the task.

Thanks soooo much! :thumbsup2 I knew I would find my answer here - DIS never fails! :teeth:
