Celebration, Florida is the only REAL thing I can think of that fits your description.

EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community -or City- Of Tomorrow) was originally supposed to be a "Future City" when Walt Disney was alive.

(Read the "History" section.)

Originally EPCOT was not supposed to be a theme part it was supposed to be a "future" city. Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow. Walt originally saw it as a working city.

Thanks you both for answering...
I think he ment Celebration... But I have never heard of it... Can you actually live there???

After many trips to WDW, we finally headed over to Celebration in August. Several people had told me it was worth a look, and it was. I want to live there. It is so beautiful and well laid out. Wonder how much it would cost to live in Celebration.

I don't think I'd call Celebration a 'future city',though. It's a planned town, kind of themed, but not in a futuristic way. The theming is more "Main Street USA" than futuristic.

I've never visited Celebration but the whole concept seems a little creepy to me. Am I the only one who thinks so?

Mr. & Mrs. Smith, you have GOT get out of the archives, here.

These old messages are hundreds and hundreds of posts back in the files.
(Just check the dates.)

I would love to live there. But I'm into that picture perfect idealism. I wanted to buy a townhouse/condo there a few years back. Of course $350k for a second home was a little out of our price range, but I continue to dream anyway!

ETA: Thanks for bumping up this old thread. Sheesh!

Did anyone see the thread about many homes being up for sale at Celebration... because of the housing down turn?

I bet there are some good prices now... or still falling, maybe better bargins if you wait till next year.

There are many, many old threads currently being bumped by this poster.

Of course, its OK to do it (if its intentional,) but I thought the poster MIGHT have the VIEW set wrong on his/her browser.
That's why I brought it up.

Not sure what all that old post stuff is about....however...

I recal reading in the newspaper people in Celebration were mad that the orgianl investors sold heir portion. And they sold it too people who did not take the overall "idea and love" of the Celebration city serious enough.Items like the snow party in the downtown area were stopped....

It was two yrs.ago I read the article, so it's rather fuzzy. BUT I do agree, it is a tad creepy.

Reminds me of the old 1950's twilight zone TV shows... a tad creepy but not enough to scare away a Disney nut.

Here's some photos... I think my friends did a car show there once
