Future "Big Sis": ideas to make her trip special?

We are going in Sept and we are expecting our second child in December. This trip was planned to be a special event for our DD who will turn 4 in January, so she would have some quality time in a fun place with just mom and dad before the baby comes and demands his/her share of the spotlight. We've made all but two of our ADRs for character meals for her (we are also going to Boma twice for vegetarian and big eater DH, but we figured she would enjoy it there too). But can you all think of ways to make this trip special for her? Also, ways for us to acknowledge that the new baby is coming in a way that is fun for her? I thought about encouraging her to pick out some little t-shirts etc. for future sib: stuff that obviously isn't for her and she wouldn't covet.
TIA for any suggestions.

How about having ears made for her that say "Future Big Sister" on them? That way people would look at her and know.... and maybe fawn over her and make a big deal out of it? :goodvibes

Congrats on your pending new addition! I hope you and DD have a great and memorable trip!

Hi
I'm taking my DGD 3 1/2, she'll be 4 in November to Bibbity boppity Boutique. She's going to have her nails polished, hair done and makeup put on. Also, she'll be wearing her Cinderella dress to the 1900 Park Fare dinner with Cinderella. Would you DD like to do something like this? I heard that the CMs give the kids a lot of attention and the kids feel really special. This might be a fun thing for her to do and feel like a princess! Have a great trip!

I love the idea of having her pick out clothes! You're right....those are something that she wouldn't want for herself, like a toy or stuffed animal.

How about maybe having her pick out something she likes, and something matching for the baby? It might take a little work, but maybe she can find a purple shirt she likes and find a purple shirt/dress for the baby, or she can find a Minnie Mouse dress and find something Minnie Mouse for her sister to wear.

LOL did you say it was a girl? If not, I guess that would be a bit harder to do! :lmao:

Also...How about taking pictures of your daughter on her favorite rides, in front of her fave places, with characters, etc. Then you can laminate the pages and make it into a book for her to read to the baby! My friend's mom did this...and since your daughter is getting to the age where she can read, you could label each page with easy words....like

Mommy
Daddy
Mickey
castle
Dumbo : )

Then your DD could remember her trip and have fun sharing all her memories with the new baby! :)

ok, i know this may sound corny and i never really respond to these types of threads, but, what about telling her she has an important job, on this trip as she will need to notice everyting so she can tell the new baby all about disney

Thanks! These are great ideas! I think I'm going to try all of them. I do like the idea of the book; she loves to "read" books to herself. I think asking her to remember things to tell the baby is a great idea too. The Big Sister ears would be a great souvineer as well as getting her some attention in the parks. Cinderella is her favorite princess so we are having dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Maybe I will ask her if she wants to get "fancy" before going...
Thanks again! Any more ideas?
