Alright, I have spent endless hours price comparing packages etc with the pin I received via email a few days ago. I have received others in the past and when I called on them I found they were actually under my MIL's name, because I made ressie's for her previously. The CM told me then she switched everything and it was taken care of. So now naturally when I receive this PIN and want to act on it, I sit for 20 minutes to listen to another CM tell me he switched everything AGAIN  and it is all taken care of, if I want to book. I call today, to book...disney will NOT honor it, even though it is my email and I can forward it to them via fax or email, they will not honor it. :scared1:

WHY, WHY, WHY when I finally decide to use it, does this happen!?!?! It was for free dining in december, so really isn't THAT great of a PIN, but enough to get us back down there. I am so mad I just spent another 36 minutes on the phone to be told this!!!!

I am ready to say we will be vacationing somewhere ELSE!

I'd call back. Unfortunately, my experience is that different CM's give you different answers. I got a pin sent to my son (a minor) and was told by one CM I could not use it for our family :confused3 I called back and another CM was more than happy to let me use it. No rhyme or reason. I know its frustrating.

I agree about the inconsistencies in the CMs, it is worth giving it another go. Just be sure you are not talking to the same CM.

However, they are getting tighter on this now because there are so many people always trying to pull a fast one on Disney or feeling that they are entitled to something for nothing. I am not saying that you are, but there are people like that. Disney is tightening their belts like the rest of the globe....as well as their rules.

Agree. They are definitely cracking down on the usage of pins by people they aren't addressed to.

call back and talk to a different CM- and again and again until you find one that will honor it. That's what I would do. You're likely to come across one that will give it to you. Some are better than others, some are willing to go the extra mile, some are friendlier than others... and so on.

I can totally understand your feelings. I would feel the same way.

I'd call back too. Different time frame to hopefully ensure someone different. Good luck. Very frustrating.

that sounds nuts! My 7 year old son got a pin in my email (I had registered for a free dvd to be mailed in his name). My MIL was able to use my sons pin on all 9 people going in our grand gathering. (free dining). i would call again. May its because your MIL isnt in your party on your ressie?

This is sort of OT, but the name thing made me laugh...we just got back from Disney and I booked a bounceback for December. I used my name, my credit card, my address, my email...today we get the reservation mailing and it lists my mom as the primary guest. Why? Where in the world did that come from??? Its like once Disney gets some idea in its computer, it just won't let go. Yes, my mother booked all our rooms in her name when we were kids. 20 years ago! Geez, Disney, let it go!

today we get the reservation mailing and it lists my mom as the primary guest.

I made numerous calls to WDW to plan our trip. We changed our resort a few times, and I probably made at least 30 calls to try to get/tweak ADRs (this was before the online system). During one of these calls, the CM decided that the resort reservation should be in my husband's name. The next time I called, the CM told me that the reservation with that number was under another name. So, I gave her the names on the reservation and she confirmed it was under my husband's name.

Not a big deal, really, but it was funny, considering he made not one phone call about the trip.

My husband has never phoned Disney, has never put anything in his name. I have made all the reservations, it has my e-mail address, everything and yet the reservation is under his name. Whenever they ask who the reservation is under, I give my name and they say "I'm sorry, that is not the name associated with the reservation". The funny part is that the CMs apparently pull up a list when they answer questions about a reservation and it shows who they talked to making it abundantly clear to anyone looking at the reservation that my husband has never had anything to do with it. Strange.

Boy do I feel your pain. I go to WDW frequently. I NEVER get pins any more. But my sister (who has gone twice in twenty years) gets them ALL the time, in MY EMAIL. She went with me two years ago, with her room reservation made by me, but the emails never have my name on them. Last week I hit "reply" on the email she got (which I had been hoping for, free dining) and spelled out my frustration to the Disney powers that be and got (what else) an automated response that it is an unmonitored email!!! :rotfl:

I have debated calling back, and in general that has been experience as well, talking to different CM leads you to different results. I am just so frustrated...three phone calls, and yet my main email address is still under someone else name?:confused3 Last night, the CM was all set to put my deposit down, now today, sorry not happening!

I honestly wonder if the problem was I was trying to make a ressie for BW and the free dining prices quoted are for values. Maybe this is only for values, because unlike other PINS I have received (for my MIL :lmao:) there is no disclaimer stating other resorts are available with this specific pin.

I am sure I will break down and call back, even if just to prove my point that my email will still not be MY email! Thanks for all the advice!

OH YES...I also wanted to mention that the CM told me this email is targeted for specific "profiles" and our family does not fall into that profile. So free dining would have been offered to MIL and FIL, but not for a family of five...economically I get it, just poor customer service...

Yes...it sure can be frustrating. I have been organizing a Grand Gathering for my family for a year. Everything is in my name...except the rooms. They are in each families name all under my address.
So this week our magical express tags arrive to my address but in the name of one of my sisters. I just shook my head...and opened the envelope to make sure that everything was there.
It sometimes really makes me wonder how such a big organization can be so poorly organized:confused3:confused3

Very well said! I also wanted to add that when I called the disney destinations number to book the pin I was prompted to enter my pin number. I am positive if I would call with my husband's cell it wouldn't ask for a pin. I think that might be my argument if and when I call back.

If your son's name was on the reservation, that is why she was able to use it.;)

That sounds like a load to get you to back off. ;)

I got a pin code a few weeks ago and called to get a price quote. Was told that my name was not the one attached to the pin and therefore I could not use it. Now, this pin came to my work email address and had my name on it. I sent an e-mail to Disney asking them to update their info. I received a reply back that the last name matched up with mine but the first name did not. Turns out they had my middle name shown as my first name. Go figure!
