We have Dash, who will be one year old in 3 weeks!
Here are a few pictures I took of him yesterday after we picked him up at the kennel... he had been staying there while we were in Texas. He really liked it there and did really well. All the extra exercise though playing with all those dogs helped him lose a little extra weight he had gained, so he looks great right now.
Our story of how Dash came into our lives started last summer. DD had been wanting a "real" pet for a long time. She was tired of fish
We hadn't had a dog for over 10 years because it always seemed like we were gone. We researched several different pets like turtles, and rodents (hamsters, guinea pigs, etc...) and decided on a guinea pig.
Right about that time we went to visit family and met the new puppy my nephew and his fiance had gotten, we fell in love with her.
After we got home DH asked who would watch the guinea pig when we weren't home and I told him we would just have to find someone and he asked why that would be different than having a dog? A very true statement! Besides, I was not thrilled with the rodent for a pet, but was willing to get over my heebie-jeebies so that DD could get a pet.
One week later we had found a litter of puppies and went to visit them. I instantly fell in love with one, but kept my opinion to myself so that DD could pick one herself, after all - it was supposed to be her dog. She went back and forth between two other puppies and then picked up the one I liked ( my heart soared). A little while later her dad asked her if she liked any of them and she looked down at the one in her arms and said "this is Dash".
This pic is from that day...
How could you not love him, those cute little eyebrows and the dash mark on his forehead!
Anyways, he has turned out to be more my dog than DD's because I am home with him all day long while DD is in school (we got him the weekend before school started last fall) but now that summer is here I think he will enjoy having DD home all day. He is a little spitfire, but we love every minute of it!!!
