I was reading the thread about the bad experience with a Typhoon Lagoon bus, and it made me think of some funny experiences we have had with WDW transportation. I'll share one here, and I'd love to read about others.
We were staying at AK Lodge and waiting in line with others at one of the parks. We hadn't been waiting too long, but I think it was around closing time so there was a pretty good crowd of people. A bus pulled up to the AK stop and we all piled on. There were enough of us to pretty much fill the bus. Then the driver said, "Next stop is (I can't remember which hotel he said, but it was NOT AK Lodge...let's just say it was Port Orleans Riverside for the sake of the story!). We all said, "No, this is an AK Lodge bus!" He said, "No, it's going to Port Orleans." We all said, "No, this is the AK Lodge stop!" The poor guy was really confused, but finally he said, "Okay, AK Lodge it is!" I sort of think he might have pulled up at the wrong bus stop, as none of us had bothered to read the front of the bus. At the end of the day, you just kind of automatically pile on to any bus that pulls up at your stop.
Once we were at Typhoon and heading back to our hotel (I think it was Port Orleans), and a woman came running at our bus, flailing wildly. The driver probably thought she had missed it, so he stopped and opened the doors. She proceeded to berate him for five minutes because she was waiting for a Coronado bus and two Port Orleans buses had gone by while none for Coronado had shown up! The poor driver was trying to be polite but to get her out of the doorway so he could get on his way. I don't know what she expected him to do, but boy was she wild!
Anybody else have some funny stories to share?

LOL, I think I know who that driver was that did that AKL/PO bit... one of my friends will often do that, just to get a reaction out of folks, and have a little fun. He really does know where he's going, though. :)

My all time favorite bus story is from our trip in '01. We were leaving Epcot, it was after IllumiNations and we were all pooped. My dd, then 8, was really dragging. We boarded the bus and the driver quite loudly announces..."People, we have a red-head on board. I repeat, a red-head on board. Please do not get her going. You've all heard about those red-headed tempers!!" My dd, the aformentioned red-head, tried to hide anywhere but obviously that was not an option!! He kept up the red-head thing every couple of minutes, asking if anyone was bothering her. It is now one of dd's favorite memories of all time!!! You gotta love the bus drivers. They can really make your visit more magical.

Great thread!
After leaving the Hoop De Doo last year and waiting quite a while for the first bus, then quite a while for the second bus going from Ft Wilderness to DTD, no one was in a good mood. It was late, kids were cranky, etc...
Well we got a bus driver, I believe his name was Mark, and he made the ride so much fun! He was full of Disney trivia questions, and jokes. The highlight was when he brought out the stuffed Eeyore and had him body surf down the jam packed bus. We couldnt stop laughing. :D

My husband, me, dd14, df14 were at DD and we got on the bus for our hotel.ASMovies. Well we sat for a few min., there was alot of people oneither. Well after a few min. the bus driver turned the light on and said the bus was going some where else, I fortget where but it was not the ASM. So the 4 of us get up and leave the bus. Well we stood outside for about 1 min. and all of a sudden the driver turned the sign back to ASMovies. So we all laughed and got back on the bus. The bus driver said, oh do you always get off and on busses here. lol. It really was kinda funny cause it was late and we were all tired. But it made for a funny story.

Everyone loved Big Mark. He was a favorite among the guests... Sadly, Mark has moved on to other opportunities, and is no longer with us. :(

Oh no, not Mark! We loved him last year, and were hoping to see him again on our next trip. Boo hoo!:(

Mark was the best though, with the body-surfing Eeyore and the singalongs, and the whole bus yelling at the security guard at the gate- "HI MR SECURITY GUARD!" We had him from MK to the AllStars, and he had a trivia contest to see who would get dropped off first- Music won. He really had a way of making a bus load of strangers feel like a family for a few minutes.

LOL!!!!
The joke was on us and we didn't even realize it! Of course, that late in the day the brains of everyone on that bus were on autopilot, but hubby and I are getting a big laugh out of it right now! :jester: :jester:

When I saw this thread, I knew Mark was gonna be mentioned. I'm very sad to see he no longer works at Disney. He had us laughing our rears off on the bus from Epcot to WL. It was late at night and everyone got on the bus tired. But when Mark brought out Eeyore, everyone pepped up. It was the funniest ride back to the hotel and we actually didn't want it to end, lol. The highlights of that ride was singing some song at the top of our lungs and stopping at the security gate, turning the lights on and yelling "hi mr security guard". Way to funny!

Oh thats too bad about Mark. He was great!
We had another bus driver one night on that trip who was a lot of fun with trivia questions and the like, but I didnt get her name.

We had a very similar adventure as inkkognito. We were at the AK park waiting for the PO bus. A bus pulls up with an odd sign, this was back in 2001 so I don't quite remember what it said. but it stops right at our bus stop. There are about 15 of us there and we all get on. Off we go and after a while I feel like we are not heading in the right direction, but who knows, maybe there are more ways than one to get from place to place. All of a sudden we pull up at the Swan. Bus driver opens the door and no one gets off. I went up to him and asked if he was going to PO. He said no, and I said that I think everyone on the bus is going there. he gets on his microphone and asks if anyone is going to the Dolphin, no hands raised. Asks if anyone is going to PO, all hands raise. he says well, I guess thats where we will go. I get applause as I walk back to my seat:Pinkbounc Took us a while longer to get there, but we made it.

One I like to share does not include the bus driver. I was once at DTD waiting for a bus for over an hour. They brought out an 18 Wheeler bus trailer.(this was a few years ago). I was seated next to a young man in his teens. They filled this thing and 2 other busses standing room only. On our bus a lady was about 6 months along, holding a toddler about 2 and had one about 5 or 6 holding onto mom. I got up for the lady. The teen on his own got up for the young child. That young man got so many praises from everyone plus a bif thank you from the woman.

We also had Big Mark at Thanksgiving last year... What a great ride!! and I will always remember the answer to "What is the name of the Apple Dumpling Gang's donkey?" because of Big Mark.

We had a bus driver that entertained us when we were staying at CBR. He put one of those mechanical car things on the lift and started letting it down yelling tower of terror. We were busy(11 of us singing Aruba, Jamaica......didn't know all that many of the words so we were not good, just loud. Finally he yells back, hey back of the bus do you know where you are getting off? We loved him.
