Funny Upgrade Story

With all of the discussion concerning upgrades lately, I thought this story might amuse you. We booked with DCL directly last year, and were upgraded from an 11 to a 9. This year we booked with AAA, and I definitely didn't count on getting an upgrade. I called DCL directly about a month ago inquiring about my Castaway Club card, and asked while on the phone if she could tell me what cabin we had been assigned to for our upcoming cruise, and when she gave me the cabin number, I realized we had been upgraded again to a category 9.


Well, yesterday my TA called to get payment for our cruise balance. It was a quick converstaion, and nothing was brought up about our cabin. Two minutes after we hung up she called back so excited....<i><b>"DeeAnn, guess what..........I GOT YOU AN UPGRADE!!" When I called DCL to pay your balance, I asked if we could talk about the possibility of an upgrade for you. She put me on hold to see what she could do. DCL NEVER does this, but since I asked....you got it!!!!" </i></b> She proceeded to give me the same cabin number I had been told last month.

I didn't have the heart to tell her I already knew.......poor thing. She really wanted me to think she was the upgrade fairy!!

Well, nonetheless.....I AM extremely happy with our upgrade.

I had thought of that when I posted the story because I'm not a fan of speaking poorly of others behind their backs, but this was all in fun, and didn't slander her name. <i><b>However</b></i>, you make a very good point......it is a very small world.

Actually, I think it would be funny if she DID read it. I'll bet she wouldn't be so quick to tell another tale to a client!

well as far as I am concerned it is my bday all week- after this week I really need it.. wooo boy what a rotten roller coaster yuck fest....
Anyhow I was thinking we could do like last year and have a meet by the goofy pool bar around three and then figure out if we want to hook up later..

It's quite likely that your TA did NOT know you had already received the upgrade. The person at DCL then let her/him know that you got the cat 9 room that the TA did not book for you. The TA may be totally innocent in this incident!

I have to agree with Mjasp on this one. I would love to believe she really thought it was her doing, but then again I would love to believe everyone in the world really has some good in them. As I get older, I am finding that isn't always true, and maybe my husband is right in saying I am too naive for my own good.
But all in all, it is a funny story, and I know I have DCL to thank for our upgrade!

Hey Jiminy579.........I think I would have put a whole new twist to that......I would have said "an upgrage, great, that makes it a double upgrade!!! I talked to DCL a month ago and they gave ME that room number. So I am sure I should have a Verandah room now. Could you call me back when you find out what my NEW room number is??"
