funny text about the tolls not paid

funny thing is we dont have toll roads here
just have to laugh at the dumb scammers

We got one that said we had unpaid tolls in FLorida. I always take our EZPass so I was a little flustered. THEN I looked at the date of the "violations;" we weren't even IN Florida on those days!

That's been floating around for the last few weeks. I have an account with our highway department and they can automatically take money out of my account to cover any usage so to say I owe them back charges seemed pretty ridicules to me. I just checked in with the highway departments website and the first line on it was "It's a scam".

These are pretty common scams across the country claiming to represent different toll agencies. They're just trying to get credit card information.

I started getting that text 3 times per day this week!
I keep blocking the number and the same text comes soon after from a new number.

Yup, total scam. I have NEVER given my cell phone # to the state Ezpass website where I am registered and have it on 'auto-pay', so they wouldn't even know my cell number. They automatically charge the credit card # I have on file when there are new charges that take me below the specified minimum. I have yet to see ANY legit business who sends out texts about owing them money. Typically, you would get an email (or letter in the mail) from an official company website not some 3rd party site. Got one of those texts last week saying I owed some small amount of money and just deleted it and blocked that number from my phone.

I get texts from my cell phone provider. And some of my credit cards. But they all acknowledge to go to their website and don't even provide a link.

Yea, the unpaid tolls seems to be the flavor of the month for scammers right now. That with USPS unable to deliver a package and last chance before the car warranty runs out..... If those folks put the effort into something legit, we'd all be better off.......

I got a text not long ago about unpaid toll. Things is I had gone over a toll bridge but had not yet received the bill. I knew there was no way it was legit as they would have no way of having my phone number to text me. Coincidently, I received the toll bill that day.

Omg I’m constantly getting these texts! I literally just got one like ten minutes ago. DH was like “where are you going when I’m at work?” Lol.

It is pretty useless to block these spam calls, as they are usually from spoofed numbers so they are different every time.

When I worked in a branch end of my company, I had several people come in who had paid these "tolls"... had to close their accounts and open new ones to prevent further fraud.
