This was the one day parents would let kids use the family’s camera, and things like film and flashbulbs made picture taking expensive. Plus cost to develop. In the end you were lucky if 20% of your pics didn’t turn out like crap.

And drop off the film to get developed:

I got a basic Kodak pocket camera of my own when I was in elementary school (can’t remember whether Christmas or birthday). IIRC it took the flash cubes instead of the flash bar shown above. It’s still here somewhere. Dad had one with the built in flash, like Michael Landon is holding. I had to save up my allowance to buy film and to get it developed. We used to take our film to those little Fotomat huts you would see in various parking lots. They were cheap, but it took a few days to get them back. By the time I had worked my way up to a 35mm camera, there were one hour photo developers in just about every drug store. That was great! It was such a luxury when I got my first digital camera and could see the photos immediately (even if the thing was huge - it used 3.5 inch floppy disks for storage).

I don’t recall ever getting to use the “family” camera. Mom had an Instamatic when I was a kid, that I never touched, and Dad had a few different ones over the years but he didn’t share either.

I recently found an undeveloped roll of film while deep cleaning. I would guess there's nothing to do about it now. Does anyone know if they still develop old rolls of film?

They do! We recently found one and dropped it off at the pharmacy. I forget if it was CVS or Walmart. I’ll have to check. It was a fun find. We only had a few good photos out of it because it was really old film but it was fun to go pick it up and see our little kids on the photos.

ETA: it was CVS!

Thank you. I really didn't think anyone would develop these old 35 mm films. I have a CVS in town and will go check it out. :) :)

Do a search for photo shops in your area. I was surprised at how many are still around. I had a 102 year old negative of my mother at age 3 standing alongside her older sister. They were able to take that negative and made a beautiful 5X8 photo. I was amazed that it was still so clear and clean looking. If it hadn't been in black and white, I would have sworn it was a recent photograph.

That might be a staged photo, but to be honest I firmly believe that it is an actual untouched one. Either way when you can't be sure that something that illiterate is real or not, the country is in big, big trouble.
Still funny. And scary.

I can believe that AI is involved, but the clothing isn't the problem. There are many gun groups that have matching outfits, usually mostly the shirts. In this case they have matching shirts, but two are wearing long pants and three are wearing shorts, all in the familiar light khaki shade and also different hats. That is a little concerning to me. Usually the first thing that matches would be the hats. The real thing is if the message on the wall is real. That is what I think was added. The style of the statement is not connected to the obvious spelling errors.
