I wonder if they got the idea of cutting homeless people in half from the Tiger Balm Gardens in Hong Kong and Singapore. Hong Kong closed but I think Singapore is still open. There is a part of the Gardens that has frescos and statues describing The Ten Courts of Hell, depicting gruesome punishments in the afterlife for those who misbehave.

This is from Singapore, but the one I visited in Hong Kong is similar.
