Yesterday, my aunt Sophia(who at the last minute tagged along)and I met up with DH's mom and her wedding floral arrangement friend for lunch.
I personally didn't and still don't think I need a fancy wedding floral arranger but I went along to satisfy my curiosity(well, that and a free lunch.
Anyhoo's, so we meet up with them at the restaurant(they were already there and waiting and I kind of recognize the floral arranger lady. Dang, I have seen her somewhere before, I was positive I had. They both stand up to greet us and just as soon as I finish giving DH's mom a hug, the arranger gives me a kiss on the cheek, and boy did she lay one on me...Her kiss was on my right cheek, and it felt like it was only half of her lips. Immediately I think she's left me with a red lipstick mark on my cheek. I could almost feel the lipstick print on my cheek and my reflex was to lift my shoulder to my cheek to rub it off but then again, I didn't want to be
rude and do that right in front of her... Whoa, what is the proper etiquette for lipstick prints on cheeks anyways!!
But this lady wasn't through with me yet, she gives me a hug and then as soon as I think I am free, she gives me a kiss on my left cheek, but this time she doesn't get me with half of her lip, I get the full on lipstick printaroonie... Now I'm standing there in the resturaunt and I have two lipstick prints on my cheeks, it was as if my cheeks were blushing Lancome fire engine red.
Aw man, now what do I do?
My aunt Sophia seeing that the lady was more than willing to share her lipstick, quickly sat down before she herself got some of that red lipstick on her cheeks.
I sit down too but inside I am wanting to run to the ladies room and scrub the heck out of my cheeks. But, I couldn't leave the table right away and what if I did leave and came back with clean cheeks, would the lady be offended???? Ack, such a dilemma I had...
All I wanted to do was run and scrub off that lipstick, but heck if that lady was chatting me up with her floral ideas and even brought her portfolio to show me her work. Instead of really listening to what she was saying, all I kept thinking was....I LOOK LIKE A CLOWN, I LOOK LIKE A CLOWN...I WAS KISSED BY TAMMY FAYE BAKKER... Well, all through lunch, my cheeks were still imprinted with red lipstick and my aunt Sophia kept giggling at me every time she looked at me...
As soon as we parted ways at the restaurant, and my aunt Sophia and I hopped into a cab back to my house, As my aunt was hysterically laughing, I was rubbing and rubbing mycheeks(my top cheeks, not my bottom ones..)and finally my cheeks were as normal as they could be. It looked like I had some seriously rosey cheeks
What a pain! Would you have left them, gone and cleaned up, or said anything? I so wish I was ballsy and could've come up with something snide to say...
Oh well,
Jen
