I just turned 40 in July and I had a question to ask here and by the time I logged in I had no idea what I was going to ask....after 5 minutes the question returned! I hope this happens to other people, too!

We are a family of 6, I ready a post where it said to buy Southwest gift cards from Target and book individually since you can use a few forms of payments. I have a Target card but how will this really save me for SW? It's only 5% so right now I'm looking at $264 per person so with 5% that is 13.2 savings per person, right?

Is there something I'm missing?

Doesn't look like you're missing anything. I know there are savings with SW Gift cards (there is a limit as to how many gift cards you can use online though), but I prefer to use my credit card to charge plane tickets. There is an insurance policy associated with the credit card in case of something dire.

Depending on where you are, you might want to look into the SW credit card (there is one with a fee but the fee is waived the first year). Get it when there are 50,000 bonus points and you might be able to get a few round trip tickets for free out of it (depending on how far you are away from WDW). For me, in CA, I can get one round trip ticket and one one-way ticket out of 50,000 points (I have yet to apply for the credit card.)

You would first buy discounted Target gift cards at 6-8% off THEN apply that at check out while signed in to your Target account to get the additional 5% off.

Some credit cards that have a fee ... do have it waived the first year ... but not the SWA cards.

SWA Credit Cards ... the $99 annual fee is applied to your first billing statement.

What I plan on doing is buying discounted target cards from raise then going through target with my red card for another 5% off. I also have free target cards since I shop there alot so hopefully I will be able to save some on our airfare to Disneyland
