Funniest DCL Cruise Experience

After boarding the Wonder in April, we went to the kids club and registered our DS 6. They gave us a permanent wristband which we put on him. We then returned to our cabin.

For some unknown reason, he decided that he did not like the wristband and he was not going to wear it. We told him it had to stay on until the end of the cruise for his safety. He went nuts and started jumping on the bed and saying he was not going to wear it. Then he said "I'm going to bite it off!" and he started biting it. We cracked up watching him. Parents can be so cruel.

Well, 10 minutes later he forgot all about it, and he even left it on after we disembarked, so it was just one of those strange things kids do.

This is not really a funny story when we were on the cruise, but someone talking about a cruise. My daughter and I were in a jewelry store buying gifts for her bridal attendants. This lady was talking about a cruise she was going on the next month. She was telling her friend that it was a Royal Caribbean ship and that she was so glad that it had a golf course on it. She went on and on saying how her husband was thrilled and he would be taking his clubs and he and his friends would be occupied most of the day playing golf. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was a miniature golf course of only 9 holes. I wish I could have been there when her husband and his friends all showed up with their golf clubs to play a round of golf!!!!

Anyone else??:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: Mary your story was soooo funny about the toilet.

Ok, I am an obsessive planner-type. By our second cruise, I considered myself an 'expert' (ha) and had prepared a spreadsheet (really 3) for each dining rotation, all excursions, activities (chip-it golf, galley tour), spa and shows. I *was* prepared. In addition, we had friends having a vow renewal so I added those items in, hair appts, photos, etc.

We get to the terminal, get our dining rotation (pays to be prepared, I was convinced we'd have APL, we didn't) and threw away my 2 "extra" sheets. We ran in (2nd in line, LOL) and my other mom-friend and I made Palo ressies while the guys headed to the spa. We met them there, they got the spa appts while we got the hair appts and we headed to Topsiders to VACATION.

We sat down, I whipped out my sheet and made the updates. As it was color-coded (and quite eye-catching, I might add), the guy next to me looked over and seemed to be studying it. He blurted out "where did you get that? I want one." to which I had to tell him I designed it (HA! agonized over it for WEEKS in advance is more like it) and his response was "I love you!" We all sat there stunned a moment and then my group (dh, friend, friend's dh) all burst into laughter while his wife smacked him. We chatted a bit and ended up sitting near them at dinner, but we never talked again (I felt like the wife gave me the eagle eye everytime we sat down to dinner)

Have to add that on that same cruise, dh and friend's dh both wanted massages - they were pretty booked so they reserved a "couples" massage and went together. We giggled about that (the girls did at least) for the whole trip.

Our very first cruise, my DD, then aged 12, my cousin and myself were on board the Magic's 2nd run! We were three girls out to have the time of our lives, and boy did we...

To set up this story I must tell you that I am a BBW, 5'8" tall, with a rubinesc build. My cousin is a tiny 5'1", and weighs in at 102 pounds.

Now us three girls get very, very silly on vacation.... We were in a verandah room, late at night, probably 1 AM, DD and I went out on the balcony to enjoy the beautiful view of the stars while cousin was in the bathroom, we of course heard the toilet, and looked into the room to see if she would be joining us...as she walked towards the verandah door, my DD giggled and said "don't let her out here with us, lock her in" so I quickly grabbed onto the door handle...and very foolishly pressed my face to the glass to make faces at my cousin. Well, she's a fiesty little thing...she approached the door, grabbed the handle with both hands and flung the door as hard as she could....to my surprise! Little thing that she is ...flung the door open and me right across the verandah...I flew over the chairs and little table and landed on the floor against the partition (did not get hurt except for my ego!)...we laughed so hard we cried, and I nearly wet my pants....although I am sure our neighbors were not amused!!

:jester:

These are pretty funny:wave:

Well hopefully this will not offend anyone but my DH and I thought it was very funny and we laugh about it all the time. We went on our first cruise on Wonder in 2003 and I was really looking forward to going to the tent market and doing some haggeling. My dh is not a hageler and leaves it all to me. So we got there and I am all in the zone of hageling so he says honey I am gonna go check and see if they have any cigars for sale. He is gone for about 15min and he is all but running back and is really red faced. I said honey whats wrong and he told me that he did not find any cigars but was propositioned by a not to pretty lady for a sexual act for 50 cents. So with a straight face I told him didn't you try and get her down to 25 cents

On my cruise in July 01 had to do a load of laundry as we had a bottle of gatoraid open up in the knapsack with the bathing suits + a soda can opend in DH's suitcase & soaked his underwear with soda.

When I got to the laundry room there was one washer not running and of course there were wet clothes in it. I moved them to the dryer above this machine as it was the only empty one. I put 4 quarters in to start the washer and pressed the button for the dryer BY MISTAKE!! Not only was I drying some stranger's clothes but an inconsiderate stranger who left their stuff in the laundry room!! So I start my washer, and I left and came back about 5 mins before the cycle ended . . . and sure enough, the clothes I dryed by mistake were still sitting in the dryer. I moved them onto the table that was in the laundry room so I could use the dryer, and waited the last few minutes for my washer to finish . . . and in walked the owner of the clothes! This guy looked at me, and the expression on his face was PRICELESS, as I was standing by the machine he left them in, and the pile of laundry on the table was DRY, and I said, Oh, I moved your stuff and dryed it by mistake, and I moved it over there so I can dry my stuff and he said, Oh, OK thanks and gave me 4 quarters!!!

On our cruise last May, DD had just finished her contract as a CM in the Oceaneer's Club. Her friend Molly was scheduled to eat Dinner with us a couple of times but 4 nights into the cruise had only managed to get off for Palo's. We mentioned to our servers that Molly would be joining us the next night in Animator's Palate. When we got to our table, Molly's place was set complete with a booster seat, kid's menu and crayons to color! We all had a good laugh and Molly's face was a treat to see when she joined us a little late.

Of course then DD had to have a kids menu too and both of these twentysomethings spent half of the meal coloring and working the puzzles. DD ordered Mickey Ravioli and a Mickey bar from the kids menu.

FYI, for those of you cruising without kids, ask for a kids menu and crayons. Color, work the puzzles, what better place to be a kid again than Disney!

My funniest moment happened on the Wonder back in 2000.
I was taking the elevator down from deck 9 to meet the rest of my family. Well also taking the elevator down was Chip and Dale and their photographer.

As we all crammed in the elevator I knew there had to be some kind of joke about how do you get two chipmunks or something?

This story isn't mine but was told by one of my tablemates during the 2/28/04 Eastern.

Rachel, a honeymooning newlywed, was given the REAS package as a gift by her mother. She reported during dinner one night that when she and her new husband ordered their breakfast in bed, they figured the quantity referred to number of pieces - not servings. And they really wanted a lot of bacon and toast. So they ordered roughly 10 pieces of bacon and so on - only to be delivered 10 servings and so on! The staff apparently caught the error. But did they correct it? No.... they had fun. Rachel reported their bed, their couch, their table, and their desk were covered with plates of bacon, toast, and whatever other breakfast foods you might imagine. She said several members of staff brought the food and just kept streaming in with plate after plate.

I could tell whether Rachel was amused or embarrassed - though I suspect it was a bit of both.

It has been a standing joke in my house that when the kids would ask me how I knew something (she hadn't brushed her teeth, he hadn't cleaned his room, etc.), I would answer, "I know everything, I am psychotic." - a play on words for psychic.

Well, it came back to bite me in the butt.

We cruised the Magic in 11/03, when DD was 4. One night we were in Rockin Bar D for the family show of the comedian. DD insisted on sitting in the front row with some other kids, so I joined her. The comedian was chatting with the kids and DD answered one of his questions. So the comedian told her "You must be pretty smart," to which she answered, "Yes, I am psychotic." The entire audience roared. The comedian was absolutely got and didn't know what to say.

One day later in the cruise, I believe it was afternoon as we left Grand Cayman, we played Bingo in the lounge off the lobby. DD was bored and playing. Next thing we know she is up with Andy and is the guest caller for BINGO. Had a ball. We then attended the final BINGO game in the WD Theatre. Once again DD and I are sitting in the front row while rest of family is halfway up the theatre. She once again joined Andy and SheShe for calling the BINGO. About 1/2 way through, Andy mentioned to her that he had heard that she had been at the comedy show and that she had mentioned that she was "psychotic". "Yes," she answered, "and my mom is too." I was laughing with the rest of the crowd, but boy was my face red.

All evening and Friday on CC, everyone came up and spoke to her, called her by name, and thanked her for the "Bingo Love."

I have since stopped using that phrase and starting using "psychic".

On our cruise on the Wonder, my dd, who was 2.5 at the time, loved the shows. We watched Hercules the Muse-ical, and afterwards, the characters were milling around. She posed for pictures with a lot of them, and then Hades approached her to take a picture. She completely flipped out and started screaming, at the top of her lungs, "Bad man! Bad man! Bad man!" and then burst into tears. Hades tried to calm her down, but every time he got within a few inches of her, she flipped out. I have a pictue of us -- my dd screaming in fear, me cracking up (bad mommy!) and Hades looking terribly embarrassed.

Me and my husband were at St thomas at the tents looking at t-shirts. A boy of no more then 11 was looking at the tent next to us by himself. He kept asking the lady if they had this shirt in his size, how about this shirt, etc. The lady finally says "these shirts are expensive" (ie. not the 5 for $10 ones, $12 a pop)

The boy without missing a beat says "I will give you $5"

The lady, "Are you out of your mind!" insert irate carribean accent here.

The boy, still cool as a cucumber, "OK, 6"

Thx for sharing your Bingo stories....... I absolutely LOVED BINGO with Andy and SheShe.......they are both still sailing (last I heard Andy is the assistant cruise director on the Wonder and SheShe is in Entertainment on the Magic........they are two of my VERY FAVORITE CMs.......

My husband & I went to see a movie in the Buena Vista theater... well about 10 minutes into the movie some guy and his family (including assorted pillows and blankets) decided that our row would be the perfect place to sit. **Yes, there were other empty seats and rows.**

So....scoot, scoot, scoot, the family goes by. Dad gets to me and stops while STANDING ON MY FEET! Of course, I let out a huge screech....but still he doesn't move. What? Is he watching the movie? Well, darn, it was instinct, but I grabbed his butt cheeks (one in each hand) and proceeded to move him over to the left. My husband couldn't stop laughing (nor could our tablemates at dinner when we shared the story).

That psychotic post had me laughing so hard, I couldn't tell my husband what had got me going. I had to give him the computer.

Great thread.

Last year on our first cruise there was a large group of Special Needs folks on the ship. They sat next to us at dinner and seeing their excitement at Animator's Palate brought tears to my eyes.

So one day our friend's DH goes into the Men's room near the Mickey Pool. A young man with Special Needs was in there already. He is frantically gesturing to the zipper of his pants and making groaning noises - evidently he couldn't speak. Our friend isn't sure what's going on but suspects he wants help undoing his zipper. Not sure what to do - what if someone walks in and sees him unzipping this man's pants? But if he doesn't help him he's sure there will be an accident to contend with. Our friend, being like the Salt of the Earth, having served in the Peace Corp, etc... decides the best course of action, though potentially risky, is to help him unzip - so he does and off the man goes into the john to finally relieve himself. Our friend walks outside and the man's mother is waiting for him so our friend tells her what happened. She thanked him wholeheartedly for helping him, it must happen all the time.

We laughed so hard over dinner at Palo that night, our friend recounting the episode and the decision making process he had to quickly go through. The picture taken that night shows us really busting up, we couldn't stop laughing.
