Funniest comments you've overheard in WDW

Today at work (I work at the Disney Store), I heard the best comment ever. It tops everything I've previously heard.

There's a $4.99 t-shirt sale going on, and a lady picked out a Dumbo shirt for grandchild. I pointed out to here that there's a matching adult size and it is also $4.99. She turns, looks at me, and says, "Oh, I don't wear t-shirts."

I couldn't help but ask her "Oh, okay. Do you just wear sweaters year-round then?" - Not in a sarcastic way. She looks at me, flabergasted, once again like I should know this, and says "No, I wear shirts that are made of t-shirt material." And then walks away.

I've never been so speechless in my life.

She just meant that she didn't wear t-shirts that have iron-on pictures on them. I think it was a little wrong to say what you said. It did sound a little sarcastic. Sorry.

I don't generally wear t-shirts either, because the straight cut doesn't fit my body well. There are short sleeved shirts that aren't t-shirts.

Just playing Devil's Advocate again (a bad habit of mine; I know)... but she could have meant "I don't wear screenprinted t-shirts". I personally know a lot of people who will only wear plain shirts.

Yea, I knew what the lady was meaning... but it was still funny.

Here's another example of that type of humor: The following quote is the opening sentence to an MSNBC news article...

"A giant ice shelf has snapped free from an island south of the North Pole..."

Yes, me too! Several years ago I was at the airport trying to pick up my plane ticket for a flight I was about to take (to WDW! :goodvibes ) The guy at the counter snapped at me that minors were not allowed to pick up their own tickets without an adult present. I told him I was not a minor and he snorted and said "What are you, 14?" When I showed him my license that clearly had my birth year on it - which made me 20 - he was very apologetic.

Of course I was kind of asking for it - I was wearing pink glasses and had squeezed myself into a toddler-sized Little Mermaid shirt from the Disney store

Unfortunately I can relate to this too....I'm 30 and as recently as last year I got carded.....at the movies!!!! Who gets carded at the movies??? I didn't have my ID with me and they wouldn't let me in until I had my fiance show his ID. They let me in as long as I had my adult supervision!

And to stay on topic, that apples comment is the greatest. :rotfl:

Last year as we were checking out of our resort, we went to check our baggage and get our boarding passings from the preferred airline counter. There were two cast memebr helping us,they ask us were we are going, My husband replys we are flying home to Maine. At which point the Cast memeber says I`m Sorry sir, this service is only available for domestic flights You`ll have to check your baggage and pick up your boarding passes at the airport. We then spent the next 5 -10 minutes trying to convince them the Maine IS part of the United States.:rotfl2:

The first time we visited WDW was in 95. My identical twin boys were 6 years old. While waited in line for the Dumbo ride a woman behind us asked " Are they twins" I replied "yes". She then asked " Are they related to the twins over there?

Last summer I was sitting right behind a little boy on TOT, he was probably about 6 or 7. It was his first trip inside the hotel and I think the pre-show and que-line had the kid seriously convinced that he was going into the twilight zone. After the ride was over the kid looked at his mom and asked, "Are we still alive? Are we really in the twilight zone now?" and when he mom replied that he was fine and was still in "reality", the boy let out a loud "Oh thank god!!!!" the whole car started laughing and cheering for the boy who survived the TOT.

overheard last summer in front of TOT between an older couple " no it's just called a hotel dear you cant actually stay there ."

Not at WDW, but about WDW.

DS8 told his DGM (my MIL) that we are going to WDW in May. Her comment: "Again?? You know, there are other places you can go to for vacation. Why don't y'all go somewhere that's fun?

OMG I get this all the time! We tried someplace else once, Hershey PA. Every morning my mom & I would be outside our hotel room, on the bench, look at each other.....and say almost in unison "I wish we were at WDW"
I start planning my trip almost as soon as we get back and all my co-workers say the same thing, "But didn't you just go to Disney?" Like its a one shot deal! Well if they don't get it, more fastpasses for us right?

:stir: popcorn::
OOHHH, I knew the gloves were gonna come off sooner or later in this thread. Who'd have though the "anti t-shirt" people would have started it!:lmao: It WAS kind of silly the way the lady said it and I don't think the disney store employee meant to offend her. Sheesh. Sometimes I wish that people wouldn't jump on every little comment. While the drama afterwards can be entertaining, it gets really old after a while. Can we all please play nice?

Okay, maybe it's not for everyone . . . why is beyond me;)

DH & I are taking my MIL and SIL on a three night cruise. We have a couple of days after the cruise to explore. SIL has NEVER been to Disney. I asked her if she preferred going ot WDW or St. Augustine. We love St. Augustine, but I thought if she'd never been to WDW she'd chose that. Her response???? Oh most definitely St. Augustine. I'm not into all that amusement park ride stuff! I didn't even try to explain!!!!! LOL.

Okay, I've been holding on to this one a while....

In 2001, I was at DL with DD2.5 and DSis. Conspicuously, DW had decided to stay back at the hotel for some quiet time. It had just turned dark and those wicked CMs brought out the carts with the lighted spinners, wands, and other assorted money-grabbing devices. :scared1:

Of course, my daughter is drawn straight to one parked just ahead of the Bakery on Main Street - like a bug to a zapper. She wanted one and wanted it now ! I was determined to take a stand and said "No". Now came the whining and crying..."please.....please......Daddy..... please"

Nope - I was not budging. My childless DSis, meanwhile, was enjoying the scene and snickering. The protestation/whining hit a fever pitch, so I picked her up. "Honey, you don't really need one of those." Out of the blue, DD points to another little girl nearby and shouts out in the most tearful, pitiful "you are the worst Daddy in the world" voice....."But you bought THAT little girl one !!".

DSis then lost it :rotfl2: I was not impressed, and looked around to see parents glaring at me from all sides as I carried her, kicking and screaming, away from the cart.

It was not funny to me at the time but it seems hilarious now.

is Walt Disney World????? We were staying at Disney's Vero Beach resort last summer and some women was expressing her disappointment in Disney World . . . she thought there'd be at least some rides other than the pool slide. My jaw dropped. I composed myself and explained that this is where people come to relax AFTER a visit to WDW. Yeesh!!!!!

She replied that she's from Nebraska and people from Nebraska don't travel to Disney because they have the zoo. Bet there are a few Nebraskans out there who would beg to differ . . . and may I ask what the zoo has to do with not going to WDW???

Think I shared this before, but I also thought it might be worth sharing again.

I absolutely love this! I mean, part of me feels sorry for the woman, but part of me just :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: and a little bit , :sad2: , and . Hope she at least enjoyed the :beach:

While staying at the All Star Resorts, I was getting some information from the front desk CM and a lady walks up asking which way she needs to go to 'walk' to Epcot. The CM very politely explains to her that is several miles to walk to Epcot and it would be best to take the bus and showed her the bus stop area. She pulls out her map and says that she CHOSE this resort so that they could walk to Epcot and Animal Kingdom because she checked her map and it wasn't that far! The CM again explains that it is a loooonnng walk and the bus would be better. She insisted a friend told her she could WALK to Epcot and that is what she was going to! I stood quietly to the side with aching ribs trying not to laugh out loud. She finally stomped off and said "I'll figure out how to walk there myself!". I wonder if she ever got there.

Ok I've got three I can think of.

1. We were staying at beach club, and had come in the international gateway to epcot. We were about 1/2 of the way between the entrance and the Uk, on the path there, while some in our party visited with sleeping beauty. A lady comes by with two boys, about 11-12, I figure her kids, walking from the UK towards the exit, and she is saying "No, we don't need a map, we are just going to walk right along this circle here and see all the countries in order. We do not need a map, it just makes a circle." About two minutes later, here they come back towards UK from the international gateway and she is saying "not another word, just don't say another word."

2. Actually this was at the disney store, around christmas time. A little boy was telling his parents which of the toys he wanted and he, really loudly saud "I want a little Buzz and a big Woodie," and this lady across the store under her breath said "don't we all."

3. we were with some of our friends at future world in epcot, and we took a bathroom break. There were a group of school kids there, probably around 5th graders about 12 years old, and so the bathroom was really busy with all these boys and there was a bit of a wait in the common area around the sinks. From one of the stalls, one of the kids, trying to impress his friends, was doing a really amazing, and very loud, Austin Powers imitation of "Whose the boss of #2" with some incredible sound effects. The really funny part was that all of us adults (strangers) were looking at each other in the eye and biting our lips saying to ourselves "I will not laugh at 12-year-old boy potty humor, I will be a good example." I guess you had to see the faces of everybody trying not to laugh to get it.
