Rev. DH got a call this morning about doing the funeral for a woman and her daughter who were murdered in Jamaica. The deceased's mother is a relative of a church member.

He's never had a funeral for a child (age 8) or a young adult (mom was 38) or for someone murdered.

Prayers please for the family of these victims and some extra prayers for Rev. Dh as he tries to do God's will with this family.

It's been a rough couple weeks for him. Had my hairdressers' dh's funeral last Tuesday, a church member this afternoon, and now this one. This is certainly not the best part of his ministry although he is very good at it.

Prayers and PD for the families and your Dh.

What a horrible thing to happen.

My thoughts are with you.

Prayers for the family, your dh, and all involved. Too much trajedy in this world...

I will pray that God will give him the correct words to say

As hard as it must be for him, I am sure the families apreciate having someone like your DH in their time of need.

Ministers, rabbis, priests, all have tough jobs. Just the brief time I met your hubby, Pem, he sure does seem like a warm and consoling person. But tough, yes. We much appreciate him and others in his calling for all they do for us. My prayers and best wishes are with the families of all those touched by this senseless tragedy, and Mark also.

Being that the deceased were so far removed from your DH's church, makes me think that your DH was "hand picked from above" to perform the last Christian service these poor souls will receive. What an honor. I would say that your DH will do just fine in answering his "special call."

I'm trying to find a link to the original story. Dh & I actually didn't read the articles until yesterday. Trying to avoid negative news I guess.

Mishetta-I'm not so sure about that "handpicked" idea. I guess that is one way of looking at it.

DH made a call to a minister/chaplain friend who has some experience with this kind of tragedy. He now has a little more of an idea what to say and more importantly what NOT to say.

Here's a link to the article in yesterday's paper. Warning-It's not easy to read.
