Unfortunately, middle school is structured a little bit differently with their fundraisers. If you hit a certain target on the fundraiser, you get to participate in after school socials. This just irritates me to know end. DD, who is on Student Council, needs to sell at least 3 magazine subsriptions to be able to attend the "MEGA PARTY". If she doesn't sell at least 3 subsriptions, she will not be able to try to get elected to the executive student council board. BTW, this fundraiser started the first day we received the band fundraiser merchandise.
Needless to say, I did not allow her to drop off the wrapping paper/candy, and then ask for a magazine subsription. NO WAY.
DH, DD and I will each be picking out a magazine. Then she will have 3. We will be spending close to $60 for these subsriptions that I really do not want. I would much prefer to just donate a nice little $50, completely tax deductible. The student council would have use of the entire $50. Now, assuming the student council makes 1/2 on the magazine subsriptions, they will only get $30. Except - if I just make a cash donation, DD can't go to the MEGA PARTY.
We just started the 2nd quarter of school this week, and she is on her second fundraiser.
At least when Girl Scout Cookies sales start (in January) at least the neighbors who really want some will call my DD.
