My daughter's soccer team needs to raise some money for a trip to the Canadian national soccer tournament.

Any ideas for fundraising would be appreciated.

What have your kids done? What was worth it and what wasn't?

Thanks!

Our three Girl Scout troops have used the following:

Bake Sale / Lemonade Stand
Pre-order homemade pies
cookbooks
babysitting
Made dinner for families

Some others we have considered:

Holiday wrapping packages
Car Wash

Some Local restaurants will work with you for a % of sales for one night will be donated to your group.

Good Luck!

We need to raise $12,000 in a month. :scared1:

I honestly don't think that's possible doing bake sales in one month. Why the last minute money raising? Did they just find out they were going to the tournament? The parents will probably end up paying this cost.

My daughter's soccer team just won the provincial championship and now they are off to the national tournament.

The team has to fly and the preliminary cost per child is $1250 right now. That's without the money we get from our soccer club etc.

Personally I think we should have been fundraising all summer and if we didn't go then the money could have gone into the team's account.

Krispy Kreme would go over well but it's a two hour drive to the U.S border for us...lol

Can you do some sort of lottery drawing? Sell 500 tickets at $25 each (no easy task) and the winner gets some sort of vacation or something. That could get you $10K if the vacation is around $2,500.

Our team earned a lot of money doing betting pools on sporting events. There are online sites that are legal to do this. For example we did a Superbowl pool that was $20/square, and we split the pot. So with 100 squares we earned $1000 and all the squares sold really quickly after team members sent out emails--they sold in a day.

I wonder if there is some kind of sporting event coming up where you could set up a pool.

Otherwise I would say try to get some really good prizes quickly and do a silent auction, or do a split the pot lottery.

I don't know if you will raise what you need to with this but my kids always did the best with the $1 candy bars.

You can go back to the same person several times a week and still make a sale! Almost every one will buy a small candy bar as apposed to a package of wrapping paper!

There is no wait time for delivery and your kid gets the money right away.
Good luck!!!

Throw in a few car washes to!

Yikes, that's a lot of money in a month! We do lots of car washes in school or business parking lots (with permission of course.) They usually make about $500 in an afternoon.

You might want to just go ask local businesses for donations. Or, one of my daughter's teams wears t-shirts with company logos on them, businesses pay to advertise on them. I was surprised at how easily she got them considering the economy around us, and also the businesses she got them from. Like, I never would have asked the place that sells garage doors, but they gave them a good donation!

They've also gotten money from local groups like Knights of Columbus and the student council at the High School (this was a non-school sponsored sport). The teacher's association at the HS also gave them some money.

In Michigan, we have $.10 deposits on pop (soda) cans. An easy way to make some money is for the groups to go door to door asking for cans!

We did a fundraiser with my DD's soccer team that worked out well through Rita's Water Ice. I'm not sure if you have that chain up there, but you may have something similar.

The girls got 10% of all the profits on one specific night and "worked" the store that day. We advertised our fundraising night to family, friends, through FB, etc. They also sold raffle tickets to a Phillies game, a 50/50 raffle and sold coupon cards to Rita's. We bought the cards from Rita's for $1, sold them for $5 each. The cards were good for 10% off your order each and every time the consumer visited any Rita's for an entire year - so it was a great deal for those purchasing as well. :thumbsup2

$12k is a LOT to raise though; I would guess the parents will have to eat most of this if the girls want to play. I'm surprised the coach/manager didn't make the team aware of this possibility when they enrolled in the tournament.

Ouch... $12,000 in a single month? I honestly can't see that happening, but you might at least be able to raise enough to help offset some cost to the families, and learn to plan ahead better for next year. ;)

Our Music Assoc. has done well with sub/sandwich fundraisers, taking pre-orders for subs/pretzle sandwiches/pizzas for delivery. Subs are typically made fresh and come from one of several shops either locally or nearby towns. We average $3,000 to $4,000 profit per sub sale.

Other similar $$$ profit fundraisers we hold annually include A discount card (discounts from 40+ local businesses and chains such as BurgerKing/Rita's/OutbackSteakhouse), FL Citrus Fruit sales, a combo Gourmet Coffee and Crispy Cream Doughnut sale. A smaller, 'fun' fundraiser we hold involves selling group/fundraising tickets for an AHL hockey game (which we are able to sell at $2 below box office price and still make a profit of c. $5 per ticket!)... assuming you are close enough for a Jet's game, perhaps check and see if they offer anything similar in terms of fundraising (ice hockey season is almost upon us, smiles).

Best of luck :goodvibes

My nieces belonged to their HS band and the band boosters did a couple of big events that raised a lot of money.

One was a Ladies Luncheon. They do it every spring before prom so there's the luncheon with a fashion show featuring prom gowns & tuxes. Attendees purchase a ticket ($20) for the event plus they also have additional raffles that are extra. They do a 50/50 raffle; a cake raffle; and a gift basket raffle. Each raffle ticket is sold separately.

For the cake raffle, they get local bakeries to donate cakes which are then raffled off. The gift baskets are also donated. So for the raffle, those are all profit! The cost of the ticket covers the cost of the event location at the country club as well as the cost of the meal. That still leaves some profit for the boosters.

Another good fundraiser they do is a spaghetti dinner. Again, they sell tickets for the meal but also do raffles for additional profit.

The problem is, these both take a lot of time. Several months of planning that you don't have the luxury of right now.

Good luck!

anyone at a local car dealership willing to donate a car? Then you can do some raffle to raise money. Not sure what the laws are there about that but probably worth checking into. My FIL won a car that way from his local parish!

ETA: What about doing a weekend fundraising extravaganza? Put the amount you need on a poster, the old thermometer kind. Have a carwash station, bakesale station, lemonade/iced tea/etc. station, babysitting pre-purchase, face-painting station, raffle station for various items, silent auction station, dunk tank with local civic leaders, etc. The more diversified and interesting it looks, the more you might be able to raise. You guys can update the chart as you go through the day. Be sure to have someone make periodic runs to a bank to deposit funds.

I think if you can get the businesses in town to support the team you could do well.I think a pancake breakfast would be a good idea. I wish you luck:shamrock:
