My husband graduates this December from school with his degree in business. He attends a private school. (It's the only college in town) They have a graduate program that costs apx $11000 plus books. It takes apx 15-18 months to complete. It's arranged for people working full-time. Homework load can be up to 12 hours per week. It sounds like a great idea: low costs, works with our schedule, and he could benefit from it in the future. However...due to our history (he got cancer when he was 19 just 6 months before he started college, we had children young, and we are out to our ears in debt right now due to the slow economy) I'm not sure if this would be the best idea. His employer pays back up to $5000 per year for grad school. He is currently only working 32 hours per week and doesn't look good for the next year at his job since things are really slow. He has been there for 9 1/2 years. It has great benefits and over 3 weeks vacation. He doesn't want to start over and wants to continue working his way up at his job. (Plus no one is hiring in our area right now and we refuse to move our 3 children away from family for at least the next few years. My brother in law is very ill with CF and only has a few years left) Does anyone know of stimulas package money for those going to grad school? I've heard rumors from friends but can't find anything in writing. My husband having a master's in business would open many doors in the future. We're only 28 and have years ahead. If we can get most of it paid for wouldn't it be worth it? BUT the homework is a lot and every year it's gotten harder for him to go work on school work. Things come easy for him unlike me. He has a 3.7 all A's, B's, and 1-C the first semester in 2001. Any thoughts...ideas...experiences anyone would like to share with me?
