I'm looking for a fun way for DD3 and DD8 to countdown to our trip. I will be telling them this week that our trip in in Oct instead of Nov as they currently believe. We will have 20-25 days left until we leave. Any fun ideas?

I have a four year old, who has a bad sense of time (how long is 10 days?). We made a paper chain for each of our children when we got to 10 days before our trip. We used red and black, Mickey and Minnie colors! Each morning they take a link off and SEE how close we are to our trip. They get more excited each day they do it!

I vote for this idea!

My daughter is 9 and we like to countdown our days to Disney by watching Disney movies that have rides/attractions we will be going on...Swiss Family Robinson, Tom & Huck, Peter Pan, Pirates, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, etc.

for our trip this oct we did the mickey heads from Home Depot on our door to our bedroom and every night we take the them off.. this si what it looked like when we first did it ... I think we had 19 days or something like that.

hope this helps

My DD is 3 and we are leaving this weekend. About 1 month before, we had a calendar made. And the goal was for her to pick something out so that we would be crossing out the days. We looked at stickers and what not, and settled on some princess stamps. So every night before bed we put a stamp on that day and count the days until we leave for Disney. We have a sticker of the castle on it. That way my daughter actually sees how many days and can count them.

I made a poster board for my nephews (sorry no picture)

I made disney character clipart and photoshoped them holding numbers 30 to 1 then printed them out on printable index cards. Once that was done, I put different disney trvia on the back (simple stuff 5 year olds could answer and if they don't know something my sister tells them)

Then I printed pictures of different rides and things you see around the World on more index cards and glued them to the poster board. With velcro I attached the number cards on top of each. So when my nephew tears one off, he sees the ride...

They love this!!! One of my nephews told his brother to "wake him up early" the next morning so he could reveal the next ride!!!

It is getting them excited for the trip, teaching them about Disney and familiarizing them with the rides all at the same time.

We watch a Disney movie, and each night a different family member gets to choose. Only 1 and a half days left for us, so last night we sat and counted our Disney Change jar!

Also, packing, and going shopping for things like sunscreen, clothes, etc. is fun for me before a trip. :rotfl:

I think a calendar is good. Gets them familiarized with days, numbers...all that stuff. I also think trivia is good too. When we get closer I'm going to do a calendar and they'll take the numbers off and there will be something underneath. That way they get to learn fun stuff about WDW!

we did this at 30 days and are now down to 14 days and it's amazing to watch the chain slowly get smaller and smaller. make sure to place the chain in an area where you can hang the chain. it's fun and exciting to watch the chain get shorter.

We did the same! We used construction paper and decorated the loops!

I make a calendar and in each day I put a different Disney character. DD loves waking up and crossing out a new day. I usually put a picture of the castle on the day we leave so that it stands out.

We use a countdown calendar off disboards. My DD puts a disney sticker over each day. She asks about it every morning but I also think the concept of anything more than a few days gets lost on her.
We're at 17 days!!!
