Fun things to do while visiting AKL?

On my 40th birthday, we have a few meals planned(Chef Mickey's and Ohanas). Between these meals I'd like to visit the AKL. What should we not miss here? I can't wait! THANKS!!!

Dinner time!

Really, they feed the animals in the savannah around 5 pm: workers roll through with jeeps and toss out hay. The animals are busy and VERY attentive.

Last year, my wife and I had a 5:30 ressie at Jiko's (GREAT restaurant, btw) and got to the AKL at about 5. We decided to wander out to the viewing area for a few moments, and got a wonderful show: giraffes and zebras and who-knows-what, all incredibly close, and very perky.

And the lodge itself is a spectacular hotel. Just go and gape.

The hidden mickey safari at AKL!

Me, DH, and his sister did this one our last day while we were killing time before our plane left.

go to the gift shop and ask for the "list" (or the front desk...actually, we were staying concierge and got it at the concierge lounge, but we got our "magical moments certifcate" from the gift shop). We've stayed at AKL numerous times before doing this - but it really showed us some "hidden" places around the lodge...and the CM's (everywhere) were very helpful in helping us finish the safari! hehe

and the Gift shop - Zawadi marketplace - is excellent. Yes it has your typical disney stuff...but also lots of african stuff to check out.
