Fun things to do in the rain?

I am kind of tired of trekking around the park in the rain. Anything fun to do nearby? We have a car and can go wherever, most things we usually enjoy are just outside.

The long beach aquarium is nearby. Went to a wedding there once. There was a lot to see, and you could easily spend a half a day there or more, if you're into fish.

There's also the Discovery science museum in santa ana. Or you could go play games at ESPN zone in DTD. A little further out is Ontario Mills which is a huge indoor outlet mall (i've heard it gets more visitors per year than DLR!). There are stores, restaurants and I believe there's a dave and buster's still there - or maybe it was gameworks, I can't remember.

I think we might be heading to that museum. I didn't know the name of it but we have driven by it.

Thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming!

We have done an aquarium already this week and did ESPN yesterday for a while. I feel like I have done most of the rainy day things. Guess we might hit a movie at some point if the weather keeps up!

Might check out the mall too. I saw the Dave and Busters from the road so I kind of know where it is.

Thanks so much!

The Grand does a scavenger hunt in the afternoons. We did that last winter during a rain stay. We do love the Discovery Center in Santa Ana. It's a nice few hour adventure.

IF you want things to do in the rain inside DLR:

- Innoventions: 2 floors of all sorts of things, including ASIMO, a giant screen TV with Disney movies, interactive exhibits, games, interactive shows, places to sit and all inside

- Animation Academy: See "Turtle Talk with Crush," go to the Academy and draw different characters throughout the day (fun, interesting, you may discover a hidden talent). Interactive Sorcerer’s Workshop. Drawn to Magic.

- Shows inside the Golden Horseshoe

My kids really loved the Discovery Museum in Santa Ana. We have been a couple times. They have asked several times to go back, but we have never managed to work it in. I have never been able to pull myself away from Disney, but it is rarely raining when we are there.

South Coast Plaza is nearby in Costa Mesa and has a bunch of very high end stores that are interesting to look in as well as a bunch of restaurants- you might try a Team Mom vs Team Dad scavenger hunt to keep things interesting. Be sure to include some weird stuff which you just might find and document with phono photos or the store name and price of item. Suggestions- a carousel horse, black salt, reindeer bells, a mustached man, someone born in New Hampshire, a 3 carat diamond, a book about Disneyland, a 2 color balloon, etc.

Crystal Palace? We've never done it (can't drag ourselves away from DL long enough) but I've heard good things. What about a meal and a show? The Pirates Show or Medieval Times are both fun. The aquarium in Long Beach, movie theater to catch a show? ESPN Zone has a bunch of games on the second level.

What about having some coffee and people watching? :confused3 I might be the minority here but I find it enjoyable to get some rain at Disneyland, it's part of the adventure.

There is a bowling alley at Gardenwalk. And a nice movie theater with a bar for those 21 and over.

My husband and I LOVE to people watch! DS7, not so much! He'll last for a bit and entertain himself but not nearly as long as we will.

The sun is starting to come out.

I appreciate all the suggestions. In case it is raining tomorrow we'll be doing some more of them. DS asked me to make a scavenger hunt for the hotel this morning. He must think like a dis'er. He would love the bowling allley. I am almost glad we didn't stop by there on the way back from the discovery center! LOL!

We did enjoy the discovery center and he wanted to go back through and do some things twice. Of course, we were ready to leave by then!

LOVE that place! Food is awesome, too. And this from someone who really doesn't like to bowl :thumbsup2

I've heard that this movie theater closed and a new one is there now but they don't sell beer with thier movies. :sad1:

Oh no! We haven't been there since the new owners took over. Not that I need a beer when watching a movie, but it's nice to have no kids or teens in the theater. popcorn::
