We're heading to Myrtle in a few weeks. We're planning to visit Brookgreen Gardens, Wonderworks and the Ripley's Aquarium.

Any other suggestions of fun things to do with kids (ages 7-13)? We have been to Medieval Times and while they loved the show, they hated the food so we're avoiding those dinner theaters where the meals are pre-set.

I'd also love restaurant recommendations if you have them.

At Brookgreen Gardens, be sure to do the boat trip. It was the best part for for DS when he was little. There is a small zoo and a butterfly garden but a lot of it is a bit more adult themed. Other things that our boys have loved is MagiQuest, The SkyWheel, Mini Golf, Family Kingdom Theme Park and the dinner shows. They LOVED the Pirate shown but like you mentioned, our youngest did not eat well. We all enjoy a good sea food buffet. So much to do at Broadway at the Beach. Little guy loves the build a car place, and the huge candy store. Lots of fun places to eat there too. Favorites for kids are Hard Rock Cafe and Johnny Rockets. Be sure there is a nice pool/water area where you are staying.....fun to spend a lot of time there too. We are about 4 hours away and go pretty often so ask away if you have any questions.

not sure if Broadway at the Beach still does or have started for the season but their free firework show is fun. it is a must do for my grandsons. we camp when we stay and the gang is hard to get from the beach and pool

Any recommendations on sea food buffets?

Yea, since the water will still be cold I figured they will need more activities this trip. We are staying at a place with an indoor pool and we'll definitely spend lots of time on the beach I'm sure.

We've always had fun doing one of the dinner shows. We loved the Pirate one, and Medieval Times is a blast too.

I can't remember what buffets we've liked. They were all pretty much the same. Grab a coupon book when you're there. I remember the one my kids liked had a huge crab on the building named Tommy.

Right across the street from BrookGreen Gardens is Huntington Beach State Park. Admission is cheap (maybe $2/person). There are alligators living in the inlet which are really cool to see. Also, inside is Atalya (sorry it's the wrong spelling) which is a cool old house you can tour (another $1ish per person). This also gives you access to the state park's beach access while you're in there. http://southcarolinaparks.com/huntingtonbeach/introduction.aspx

On your way back there is a great bbq/seafood buffet and unusually reasonably priced in Murrells Inlet. http://prossersbbq.com/

I believe Wonderworks gives you two days admissions for one, BTW. Check their site as this may have changed.

Alligator Adventure is at Barefoot Landing. It's another two days admission for one. It's a quick visit b/c it's pretty hot and steamy inside. So, it's nice to be able to go back to see it all again. (Right across the street is one of the best pancake/breakfast places. I believe it's a Plantation Pancakes.
