i'll be in Chicago in mid may. what fun things are there to do/ yummy food to eat?

My friend and I have already agreed to:
Chicago hot dogs
giordanas (sp?) for pizza
Reza's Restraunt
Wrigley field
Oriental Museum

any suggestions? Thanks!

It's Giordano's but I'd more recommend Lou Malnatti's for a Chicago experience of pizza.

You need to be a bit less vague; where are staying and how far do you want to wander around? Chicago is very sprawling and all over the place for neat things to see/do.

Well, first, we should have a DIS meet. :teeth:

All are great, maybe Gino's pizza, rather than Giordano's (personal pref, though both are great). Make sure you have tickets for Cubs if it is a weekend or evening game.

I am always at a loss for what to do her, being from here, but always post these links which seem to have helped others here.

I just got back from first trip to Chicago!

Only one day in the city (in laws live in suburbs) - took our kids to the Shedd Aquarium and The Field Museum. Think we liked the Field Museum the best, my 6 yr old DS has always been dinosaur crazy and they have a 90% complete T Rex named Sue, the most complete dinosaur fossil ever uncovered I believe. Here's a link http://www.fieldmuseum.org/ if you like that sort of thing. We didn't see near all the things there but did also like the "Inside Ancient Egypt" exhibit and we saw the "Baseball as America" exhibit.

There's also the Navy Pier - we didn't get to that but hope to next time. Have fun!

Hello,
Definitely go to Navy Pier, there are a lot of restaurants, shopping, boat tours, and entertainment going on!
I love deep dish pizza and my all time favorite is Lou Malnati's and Pizzeria Uno's.
May is a great time of year-the weather should be really nice for walking around.
Have a great time :D

Chicago is an awesome city, definitely my second favorite behind my hometown of NYC. Make sure you take a stroll along the lakeshore and by all means ride the "El", especially when you go to Wrigley. It's the coolest and most efficient way to get to the ballpark. Chinatown has dozens of great restaurants. Check out the House of Blues or some of the other live music joints. I ate at a Mexican restaurant there that was the best Mexican food I have ever eaten, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the place. It was close to downtown, the chef is well-known, it had its own brand of salsa and is famous for its margaritas. I wish I could remember the name! This is going to bug me all night

---------------

After further review, it was the Frontera Grill. Thanks to Dan Murphy for helping me spark the memory :) I can now sleep in peace.

Don't forget Six Flags Great America. They're getting a Superman: Ultimate Flight! You can also ride Raging Bull and Vertical Velocity.

Take a stroll down one side of Michigan Ave. and come back on the other side.
Personal favorite restaurant: Maggiano's.
Marshall Field's State Street.
Museum of Science and Industry.
Sears Tower and John Hancock building for the spectacular view.
