My brother is finally letting his kids experience something Disney! He and his wife refuse to do anything with the parks, but are taking their 3 kids (girls 9 and 8, boy 4) on a cruise in March. I being the Disney addict I am was going to give them a surprise package of some fun things the kids might want to have while on board. What do you veteran cruisers suggest? Autograph books, door sign? anything else? I have never done a cruise (water issues) so I don't know what else they might need/ want. TIA!

Here's a few ideas:

Decorative magnets for their door
Gift Cards for the kids to spend on board (souvenirs, arcade, smoothies)
Some kind of outfit / accessories for pirate night (eye patch, pirate shirts, gold coin necklaces, glow sticks, etc)
Disney or personalized tumblers to get drinks from the drink station
Candy for movie theater

Did you know that you can have a package mailed right to their stateroom so it would be a surprise when they get there? That might be fun.

Some cute Disney themed lanyards to hold their KTTW cards.
You could make or find an online printable scavenger hunt for whatever ship they're going on.
A pirate hat for each one?
Personalized t-shirts for the day they board the ship?
Disney pins (they can trade them on board if they want).

Disney PJ's buy on sale before you go
Matching t-shirts for everyone... wear on the same day and have your pictures taken
Make magnets for your door....it is fun and makes it easier to find your room
Pirate tattoos
I've found reasonably priced things at Oriental Trading .com (pirate beach balls) or the Dollar Store

Disney Pins are a great idea as above poster mentioned. **Buy in bulk on e-bay before you go.

Have a wonderful cruise!!

I never thought of doing this. Has anyone ever had problems doing this before? Could I get a package delivered from Amazon if its alot? I have three staterooms to purchase for. Was thinking of having things like snacks, pirate gear, beach toys and things we will need for the room (organizers, etc.) delivered to save room in our suitcases.

I have never mailed a package myself but on our first cruise my mom mailed a birthday gift to my daughter. It was in our stateroom when we arrived. I don't think you can have Amazon send the package directly to the ship. I remember there being a bunch of rules about what you could and couldn't send and she had to have a list visible on the package that said what was inside. I'll look for the rules.

Someone in my cruise group posted this as a file on facebook, not sure where it originally came from, so my apologies to her/ original author):
HOW TO SHIP ITEMS AHEAD OF TIME

(you can also ship to a hotel if you are staying before cruise)

ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions!

The package must have:

The guest's full name , Ship name, Sailing date, Stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number . The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient.

Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope and attach the envelope to the box.

NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC (this includes baby food or baby formula)Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula, unless shipped through Babies Travel Lite), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage.

These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. The required size of the cartons you are shipping have to be about the size of a file storage box (12 inches on a side) and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (I’ve been told they have to be able to carry it)

Address your package to:

Port Canaveral:

Disney Cruise Line Warehouse

C/O Ship Name, Guest Name, Stateroom, Sail Date

Phone: 407-566-8196

Miami:

SMS International Shore Operations

C/O Ship Name, Guest Name, Stateroom, Sail Date

125 NE 9 Street

Miami, FL 33132

Phone: 305-290-3000

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:

ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING

Packages must arrive by:

Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Fantasy

Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Dream

If the cruise is sailing on a weekday (e.g. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday), then the package must arrive by 3:00pm the day before the cruise.

If your box is "hit on" by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. And tag it so you know they did it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it, then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.
