We are attempting to make our meals at fun locations. Some in our group love to eat and will need these extended breaks - so we are looking for fun places to spend our meals (especially since we have a 3 year old and a 10 month old).

I know this will be TOO much food for most. We will be on Deluxe Disney Dining most likely. (We currently have free dining.)

Sunday
Boma -- Arrival Dinner

Monday
CRT (Princesses) -- Breakfast
Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) -- Lunch
Ohana -- Dinner (??? Fun, Good)

Tuesday
Tusker House (Mickey and Donald) -- Breakfast
Restaurantasaurus -- Lunch Not sure
1900 PF (Lady Tremaine & Stepsisters) -- Dinner

Wednesday
Hollywood & Vine (Disney Junior) -- Breakfast
50s Prime Time -- Lunch (??? Fun, Good)
Whispering Canyon Cafe -- Dinner (??? Fun, Good)

Thursday
Akershus (Princesses) -- Breakfast
Sunshine Season or possibly La Hacienda -- Lunch ??
Unsure of Dinner, will most likely be out of park already

Friday (Leaving around dinner)
1900 PF (Mary Poppins) -- Breakfast
Cosmic Rays -- Lunch ???
I was going to do Chef Mickeys for dinner, but have heard bad things about their dinner. So, we will probably grab a snack and go...

Thoughts? Suggestions?

This is the twentieth iteration of our trip plan. Originally, we were just going for a quick 2 day stay with our immediate family. Haa!

Thanks!

I'll just give you my opinions of the ones you noted in red:

'Ohana- we are in the minority and really dislike it. However, people tend to like the food and your older child should enjoy it. Just note that if either of the kids don't like loud sounds, it may not be for them because it is very loud in there to say the least.

Restaurantasaurus- It's just a CS restaurant and there is nothing too special about it, IMO.

50's PTC- One of my all time favorites. We usually go for lunch since we are often not at DHS for dinner. I personally like the chicken pot-pie, which is only on the lunch menu. The antics are hit or miss depending on who your server is. Even though you may not get the antics that others get, you'll still get a good meal.

WCC- It's a decent meal that I am sure your family will enjoy.

Sunshine Seasons or La Hacienda- SS has a nice selection for a CS, there are deffinately some tastey meals there. LH is a CS for lunch and a TS for dinner. We haven't been there yet, but from the looks of things it's just a nice Mexican restaurant. You might like the atmosphere at San Angel Inn which is also in Mexico at EC. It is deffinatly one of the nicer themed restaurants.

For dinner that night, consider Raglan Road at DTD. Decent food and at night on most nights there is some form of music or entertainment. I might also suggest Biergarten at EC for either lunch or dinner if you want entertainment. The band that plans is very entertaining.

Cosmic Rays- Try to go at an off-lunch time to ensure you get a table so you can watch Sunny Eclipse.

Chef Mickey's- While some people really don't like the dinner (we personally don't care for any of the character dinner buffets), I always think it is best for people to try things out for themselves. You never know what you may be missing out on.

You have some good choices. Bon Appetit. :thumbsup2

Sunday
Boma -- Arrival Dinner Love it. Before or after dinner, explore the resort.

Monday
CRT (Princesses) -- Breakfast
Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) -- Lunch
Ohana -- Dinner (??? Fun, Good) You will have a wonderful time. Good food, good entertainment, good ambiance.

Tuesday
Tusker House (Mickey and Donald) -- Breakfast
Restaurantasaurus -- Lunch Not sure How about Yak & Yeti TS? Spot-on decor; it's all about the details. Ask to sit upstairs for a quieter breaktime. Ask to sit upstairs at a window table and you can just watch the world go by. If you'd prefer CS for this meal, think about Flame Tree. Behind the restaurant are paths leading to lots of little covered seating areas. Go all the way to the back and sit overlooking the lake and Mt. Everest.
1900 PF (Lady Tremaine & Stepsisters) -- Dinner Wonderful character interaction and the food's not bad either.

Wednesday
Hollywood & Vine (Disney Junior) -- Breakfast
50s Prime Time -- Lunch (??? Fun, Good)
Whispering Canyon Cafe -- Dinner (??? Fun, Good)Fun so long as noise is OK. It's really, really loud.

Thursday
Akershus (Princesses) -- Breakfast
Sunshine Season or possibly La Hacienda -- Lunch ??
Unsure of Dinner, will most likely be out of park alreadyI'll give you 2 completely different options. #1 is to go to Cape May buffet for dinner, then across the lake to the Boardwalk for entertainment. #2 is to go to POR, have dinner at Boatwrights, then go next door and catch Bob Jackson's show. It is technically in the lounge but there will be kids there and his show is definitely Disney-PC.

Friday (Leaving around dinner)
1900 PF (Mary Poppins) -- Breakfast
Cosmic Rays -- Lunch ??? Cosmic Rays is fun if you want to stay in the park. If you need more of a break, either go to the Contempo Cafe in CR so you can still eat with the monorail overhead, or go to Capt Cooks at the Poly - nice food choices and DoleWhip (soft serve, not the floats) are one of your dessert choices.
I was going to do Chef Mickeys for dinner, but have heard bad things about their dinner. So, we will probably grab a snack and go...

Enjoy!

I agree with the PP who suggested Biergarten. It is one of my kids' favorites. The 3yo can even go down and dance while the band is playing. Also, for the night you are out of the parks, consider Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Lots of character interaction and a fun picnic atmosphere. Lots going on for the 10 month-old to watch.

On Thursday for dinner if you are already in Epcot go for Garden Grill!! It is a rotating restaurant (not to fast you will barely notice) with Mickey, Chip and Dale and friends... food is served family style.

Otherwise, we love the DDxDp. We hit all the character meals, 50's Prime Time, Sci Fi etc...

Hi there, it sounds like you're going to have a great time. I'm jealous of all the great choices you're making for food.

As previous posters have said, Restaurantosauros is not worth it. Just a counter service, no real ambiance. Flame Tree is a much better CS and if you weave your way all the way back in the seating, you'll get to a beautiful lake in a quiet shaded area. A great place to just chill and enjoy.

50's Prime Time is a hoot and worth it. As is Whispering Canyon Cafe. Thumbs up for both of those.

I second the suggestion for Raglan Road in DTD. That's a must do for us each time. If you go, you MUST order my favorite dessert... Gehr's Bread & Butter Pudding. It's to die for!

Thanks everyone.

Think we are dropping whispering canyon as well. I will have to find a replacement. Have heard some vegetarian nightmare reviews.

T Rex at DTD for the theming and chicken. The service is much better at lunch

A few thoughts...

*WCC- I see you're dropping it...we did it back in December and while not awful, it was disappointing.

*Hollywood and Vine - we did this a few weeks ago and LOOOOOVED it!!! The characters came by twice and the Playhouse Disney dancing was big fun. You have young children so it should be a blast for them. Oso was the rock star of the meal when we visited. :thumbsup2

*'Ohana - while we really enjoyed the food, we were some of the unlucky ones seated off in the side dining room. so we were never involved in the activities. :sad2:

*50s PT - haven't done this one in ages, but we enjoyed the food and had a BLAST!!!

*Akershus - we have only done lunch and dinner. We enjoyed the food and the princess interaction is very good. Check in can be chaos and the wait can be long if you don't arrive during an active princess rotation (they appear to take seating breaks while the princesses rest).

*CRT- we've only done lunch and dinner, but we LOVE the castle. Unfortunately, the food was pretty bad last trip and the castle a/c dripped all over us. Our server was not the greatest when it came to us getting soaked by the a/c. Lunch back in Dec was great- no crowds- nice time with Cindy- good food- etc. This time total chaos downstairs. It's still sooooooooo awesome to be in the castle.

*Crystal Palace - this is our pre-park opening breakfast tradition. I don't know about other meals, but the food-service-and character interaction is consistently AWESOME!

*Tusker House - had an AWFUL breakfast here back in December. Bad food, so/so service, and lack luster characters. We won't return.

*1900 PF- we've been for breakfast twice, but never dinner. The breakfast food was decent and they have my fave pecan roll. Minus the mad hatter, we've had good character interaction at breakfast and I've heard the step sisters (if there that evening) are a riot! :rotfl2: Our service at breakfast a couple of weeks ago was dismal!

*Boma- I liked it , but didn't love it. I was actually expecting things to be more exotic and to have more high end meat/protein offerings. DH hated it! Next time we venture to AKL- it's Sanaa or Jiko for us.

*Chef Mickey's- we had dinner there back in December and the food was just as awful as you've heard. We had breakfast there a few weeks ago and it was MUCH better!

We did deluxe dining last trip and found a TS breakfast, snack credits mid day, and TS dinner were our preferred method, but you have to do what you think will work best for you. It might be nice to swap out a couple things to do at least 1 really nice signature meal. Cali Grill and Citrico's are at the tops of my list! YUMMMMM!!!!

Have a great trip!

I can't comment on all the meals. Cosmic rays was really yummy and sunny eclipse is fun to watch. We loved Whispering Canyon the food was tasty and the atmosphere is so fun. We like chef mickeys for breakfast but have never been for dinner. Hope you have a great trip.

I based my upcoming trip selections on the fun factor and first impression point of view, since I am taking a newbie :wizard: I really like your selections!

We will be dining at (keep in mind we are only 2 adults):

Boma: for dinner the first night. I love the selections here and always make this a 'must do'

San Angel Inn: love the atmosphere, a great first impression

Sci-Fi Dine-In: always fun for us, usually another 'must do'

Liberty Tree Tavern - only chose this one because they used to have the wait staff dress up for Halloween on the MNSSHP nights, we will see...

Ohana - I have never had a bad experience here *crosses fingers* and I love this place!

50's Prime Time - also have never had a bad experience, always fun, love the theming at the Studios restaurants

Teppan Edo - a new favorite, just want to share with a newbie :cool1:

Boma: last day breakfast, I can't stay away from the frunch! :lmao:

Have a magical trip no matter what you choose! :wizard:
