We want to book just one table service for our trip in a few weeks. We usually try to do Ohana but if we can't get in there does anyone have other suggestions for what might be fun for boys that are 9 & 7? We want to do a dinner hopefully. They aren't into character meals anymore so I'm just trying to think of something else that might be fun for them!

When I first read "older boys," I was thinking teens. My immediate thought was the 50's Prime Time in HS. If your boys have a sense of humor and won't take the joking around personally, it's a good choice. Just depends on if they are developing that sense of humor yet. The servers can have a lot of fun with guests telling them to get elbows off the table, eat their veggies etc. My boys were teens when we first went. Older DS was a sulky 16 year old who had a blast, starting when "Cousin Elizabeth" told him that he had to set the table since he forgot to take his hat off.

Have u asked your boys? I was surprised when my son told me he was super fascinated with Coral Reef. We ended up at Garden Grill and he LOVED the whole idea of a rotating restaurant. He was super embarrassed at WCC although he liked the ketchup thing.

They won't know. Other than character meals when they were younger, the only other place we've eaten was 'ohana. They've never been to any of these suggested. Actually, I've never been to any of them either!

My kids are 9 and 11 and they chose Coral Reef and Sci Fi. We will probably do Raglan Road as well.

Some of my kids' favorite non-character meals over the years:

Biergarten
Teppan Edo
Coral Reef
Hoop Dee Doo
Sci-Fi
T-Rex
Rainforest Cafe (if you don't have one locally)

I showed my kids photos/videos before we went. e.g. I was debating between Coral Reef and Garden Grill. When I talked it over with my kids, I was surprised when my son initially chose Coral Reef. At the end of the day though, they loved the sound of a rotating restaurant and went with Garden Grill.

Although I know my kids likes/dislikes pretty well, occasionally they do still surprise me :)

Teppan Edo is lots of fun. We recently did this and enjoyed it - I would imagine boys that age would find it exciting providing they like the food.

I too thought teen boys, which I have. Coral Reef is my DS16 favorite restaurant, but I can say that the most "fun" restaurants we've been to were 50s primetime, and Whispering canyon. The waitresses really engaged the boys in their shenanigans and both were hysterical. Younger boys might be more shy, but if they're not, I'd recommend either of these for fun (though 50s food was better in my opinion)
