only 55 more days until DS (4) and I head off to WDW for our mommy & me trip. I'm so excited and really need a little Disney in each of my days until we finally are on our way!! I'd love some fun count down ideas that I could do with him everyday. He's asking me everyday, are we going to Disney World today? LOL

in 2010 my roommate and I made a construction paper chain to count down the last 30 days and highlighted special dates in that 30 days. Every day we cut one of the chains off and made a small deal about it (we both had to be there, we alternated who cut that day's link).

Last time, two months out I made a calendar with a different character on each day, in alphabetical order. I made a big deal of crossing off each day, noting the progress along the alphabet. "I'm corssing off Ariel! I'm crossing off Buzz Lightyear!" I think the last day was the Wicked Queen from Snow White.

I have a really cool countdown chain that has Disney characters on it....print it out in color and have your child assemble it with you..then each morning, a link can be torn off.

I got it from another Diser....if you would like it, please PM me and I'll email it to you.

I'm actually in the process of making a 30 day countdown to Disney calendar using my mom's Cricut scrapbooking machine...I wanted to do little gifts like the last 5 days or so for the boys to open...but think we'll just make a little gift basket for them to open on the morning we leave with a lighting Mcqueen t-shirt, stuff to entertain them for the car ride, and light spinner toy...stuff like that.

^THIS!! I used to do this when I was a kid to count down to Christmas. I can't wait to have kids so I can do stuff like this!

....Is it bad that I want to make one for myself?? :rotfl:

I started out a bit further (101 days) but I created the Top 101 things to look forward to, each with my reason why and a fun picture to accompany it. Only about half of them were rides. My friends loved it!

I make a calender in Excel about 45 days out. I find different pictures/clip art to put on there to decorate it relating to that trip. Like the characters dressed up for Halloween or Christmas or whatever is special about that trip.

Then I print out a sheet of whatever we're going to cut out to cover up each day. One year it was different clip art of the princesses. Sometimes I find a few different colored/designed Mickey heads or something. Then DD gets to cut out whichever one she wants each night and glue it on there to mark off that day. She loves it and its so easy to make a new one each trip that is designed for that trip.

Last year, our countdown was a poster with Mickey Heads on it. Each day the boys would take off one of the days and there would be a Disney activity on the back (make Dumbo Ears, make Monsters Inc masks, watch Lady and the Tramp). Just little things to make the waiting fun.

that would be great! Thank you! I will pm you now

We're going to start just under a month (we're at 58 - or 57 days - have to double check). I've come up with 30 trivia questions, and we'll post the questions on the countdown chart. We've cut out 30 mickey heads (since home depot doesn't have them anymore). On the back of each mickey head will be the answer to the question so DD(then11) will enjoy the trivia, while DS(then 3) will enjoy putting the mickey heads up.
