Fully Dressed at TL/BB?

My niece is a Muslim and has to keep fairly covered up, with headscarf, long sleeves and long pants/skirt. She loves swimming, though, and doesn't mind going in dressed. I'm just wondering if she would be allowed to wear clothes at the water parks with us? I know jeans are out (too heavy anyway) and no metal or dangling drawstrings, which is ok. I can get her a pair of exercise pants and a long sleeve tee shirt, and she can tuck her scarf inside the shirt. But does anyone know if CM's would ban her from going on the slides b/c she's dressed?
With all my trips to the world I feel I should know this, but I haven't been to TL in a while and I think I was too busy bouncing in the wave pool to notice anything else :goodvibes I just don't want to go and have her disappointed by not being able to go on the slides. Any insight you have is appreciated! TIA.

I think you need to e-mail or call Guest Services, or even the park itself. Being fully clothed would be a safety hazard because of the weight of wet clothing. She would have a difficult time getting out of the pools and lazy river.

Yes, contacting Disney directly would probably be the best option - let us know what they say though :)

I am you will not be the first to inquire about this situation, and that Disney will have a solution. :)

Exercise pants and a long sleeved shirt will most likely be just fine, the only thing I see that may cause concern is the head covering...It would be dangerous to wear on some of the rides. :sunny:

I'm sure they'd let her in the pools with some sort of sun-protection swimsuit, like these: http://www.coolibar.com/childrens-child-swimwearplaywear.html

They have a long-sleeved top, but I didn't see long pants, just shorts. I just did a really quickie google search on "sun-protection swimwear". Maybe a more thorough search would lead you to some other sites with more selection.

A lighter headscarf might work in the pool, but she could probably also fashion one out of a length of swimsuit material, purchased at a fabric store, if guest services says no to a regular one.

Good luck!

what about a surfers wet suit but again they are a bit skin tight but wet ordinary clothing would also cling. at least the wet suits would shed water quickly also dry quickly. they also do a neoprene snorkelers balaclaver better than a head scarf - she wouldnt look out of place - they would think she had been to the lessons in the shark reef pool

When we were last there, there was a Muslim family. Mom was in traditional clothing and did not get in the water. The kids (boys too) wore these one piece, best I can describe they looked like long underwear. They were not skin tight at all, but light weight enough that even though wet they did not look heavy. They were long pants and sleeves. They were riding on the slides. Remember, no metal on the clothing. The girls did not cover their heads.

The only thing that may be an issue is her scarf. It has the potential to get hooked on something and choke her and it may not be allowed. Is wearing a bathing cap permissable for her to be considered covered?

Why is it that sometimes the most obvious answer doesn't even occur to me :confused3 You were all right - CALL! I think it's the heat - my brain is just not in gear lately. :rolleyes2
According to the CM at TL, "she can wear a snowsuit if she wants as long as it won't damage the slides." Well, we won't go that far (although it would fit in with the BB theme) but as long as it doesn't have metal or rivets you can wear what you like. I like the ideas about the balaclava or swimming cap though because I agree that the scarf could be a hazard. The one piece surf suits might be a bit too form fitting for her. She's 19 and very curvy - a wet suit might not feel as modest. Even though wet clothes cling to you you can stretch them away or let them dry and then they aren't showing as much.
So thank you all for your input and help. I wish I were floating along right now!

Lisa - you probably thought someone would KNOW what Disney CM's would say on here (someone usually does), so that's why you asked :teeth:. I know I definitely would have come here first!

I would go look at some of the athetic apparel they call DRY FIT fabric. Many stores and apparel lines carry it. Even Walmart carries a line. They are made to dry quicker from sweat and it is light weight to help with the heat. My niece wore a outfit made of it to Six Flags yesterday, and they added a mini water park this year, so she had to get wet. She dried off in no time and her clothes weren't dragging like other kids. Most of these clothes come in long & short styles and usually are fairly solid colors - giving her a more modest look.

questions like this is one of the reasons I love this board - I find out fascinating information - thanks!

Forgot about DRY FIT (Nike) and 'wicking' fabrics (and I'm a runner - I should be ashamed!).
