Full Stroller vs Umbrella Stroller

I'm debating on taking a double umbrella stroller for our trip in November or renting a double City Mini when we get down there. I would rather have the stroller to use in the airport since we will be traveling with 3 kids 5,2 and 1. But I'm not sure if it would be better to have a full size stroller for naps and bags at the parks.

We are going to be using the busses to get everywhere so that is also a concern. I'm guessing the umbrella stroller would be better on the bus.

I'm torn, can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thank you!

With kiddos that age I suspect you'll have kids in the stroller often. If you're gonna go the umbrella route I'd make sure it's a comfy ones for the kids and an easy push for the parents. The maclaren umbrells are great because they push so easy and recline flat for naps and are incredibly light weight.

That being said the city mini is a great park stroller with the giant canopy and more space. Still a very easy fold. Prob easier than the umbrella!

Do both! I think you will like having the CitiMini, but having one at the airport IS helpful : )

What kind of double umbrella do you have?

As for a city mini on the bus, the folding is so easy. The double is bulkier than the single, but still manageable. But, depending on what you already own, it may not be necessary.

Or, another option would be to take a single umbrella in the airport, and rent the double city mini.

Rent the City Mini double!! It reclines fully, huge sunshades, folds one handed and easily, and rides like a dream. Also comes with cup holders and a rain cover when you rent. Also get the insurance (long story but our rental was stolen 3 years ago at AK and the insurance was great as they brought us a new stroller within an hour). Can you baby wear your 1 year old in the airport? We have 4 kiddos, ages 7, 4, 2, and 8 months. I'm planning on baby wearing the baby in the airport and my other three will walk. I'm going to check our luggage ASAP once we get to the airport so we will just have a diaper bag and small book bags that the kids will carry themselves. Have a great trip!

I didn't think about wearing the baby in the airport. The other 2 will be very excited so I think they will want to walk in the airport anyways.

How is the double city mini on the bus though? Is it too bulky or do able? I'm leaning towards renting it. We don't have the umbrella stroller yet. I was looking at buying one. Maybe the Mia Moda. We already have a few strollers and really don't need another one, but none of our other strollers will work for us with the plane and the park.

We've taken the cheap umbroller for the airport and rented for Disney. Best of both worlds. Once I picked up an umbroller at a yard sale just for that purpose with dgs trip.

I'm worried about the city mini double on the resort buses. At least we won't have to take the parking lot tram which is impossible to get a stroller on and off.

If you take an umbrella stroller, make sure it is comfortable for you to push. Most of them have pretty low handles, and while they are fine for short trips, walking all day at the parks partially hunched over so you can grip the handles is not.

I'd go with a regular stroller. It may be a pain to hold onto on the buses, but everyone being happy and comfortable in the parks is more important.

Ok, I think I'll go with renting the citi mini and just wearing the baby in the airport. I would rather the kids be comfortable all day in the park.

Thank you!

I would definitely suggest using a full stroller. More 'stuff' is usually required for kids that age. We usually like the option of being able to store bags under the stroller which you can't do with the umbrella stroller.

We usually store the bags underneath, and have never had any worries about anyone stealing anything while we were away from the stroller. I am not saying that theft doesn't happen, but we have are trusting of others and it has never happened to us (we don't leave the expensive stuff in there like cameras etc).

Another option would be to take 2 single strollers, it's much easier to navigate crowds that way!
