Anyone use full spectrum lights for SAD and also task work? I have done a little looking and found some huge differences in price from $50 to $200. Are the more expensive ones really that much better?

I am interested to hear what you find out. I think DH has SAD issues, and I have threatened to chase him around with a light for years. My office has big windows, and I get lots of light - when the sun actually shines, that is.

I'm interested too. I suffer from SAD pretty badly and had a horrible episode yesterday. :(

My dh and I have severe SAD during the winter. We bought this model of light from Costco and love love love it.

we paid about $125 for it 2 years ago but it really really helps both of us.

We did a ton of research, talked to our doctors about it, tested a few out and found this one was perfect for us both.

We use it at night right after dinner. We use it for 20 min then take an hour or 90 min off and then use it for 10 more min. It really actually makes us feel euphoric while we use it. You can "feel" it going in your eye and it's kind of weird at first. Now I'm used to it so it's cool but the first few weeks it was an odd experience.

 I delt with SAD for years, it was terrible. Every year from late fall, till mid spring I would be seriously depressed. Moving to Florida changed my life, I'm a new women now, it's amazing. Occassionally, we'll have a string of cloudy days and my mood will go straight downhill but as soon as the suns back I'm good to go.

I would LOVE to do that. I have a friend with SAD and he moved to Florida from Maine a few years ago and he's like a new person now. Unfortunately, my ex-husband and I have joint custody of our daughter and he refuses to ever let me move her so far away. :( He loves New England (and the winter) and won't consider moving either, so I'm probably stuck here until dd is 18...12 years from now. :( Maybe I can work something out with him. :scratchin ;)

Thanks for the info. I have seen the appollo lights. They are the more expensive kind. I am glad they work so well though.

I have suffered from SAD for years. I am tired of taking antidepressents for the problem and want a better way.

I would love to ove to Florida, but it isn't happening so we are staying in the cloud capital of the world.

It really helps us a lot! We do take anti depressants year round so that could make our results a little different than if you don't take them.

When doing research and talking to doctors we found the apollo lights were the highest ranked and most reasonably priced. Some were in the high $500's from other companies.

I just looked at costco.com for their go lite and they have them for $172. I love it because I can take it with me wherever I go. If we go out of town I can take it in my suitcase because it's small and light and came with a travel bag. Then at home I can move it from room to room depending on where I am at the time.

If you go to www.apollolight.com there is a Circadian Rhythm test you can take. When you get done with it you get your results on when the best time to use the light therapy is for you. It's really helpful to follow their recommendations for when to use it.

Hope this helps someone else! It's been a god send for me and dh! We usually get nasty weather inversions where we don't see the sun for days and it's cold and foggy and miserable. This helps us a lot especially during those dark/depressing days!

I took the test on their website and it said to us it in the morning.

I just can't spend that kind of money right now though.

I'll keep it in mind for the future.

At least it is sunny today even though it is only 15 degrees.
