Full Size vs Intermediate Size

I am getting a car from May 7th, Saturday to May 22nd, Sunday. It will be myself, my wife and our 4 year old (4th birthday is May 18th) son, who needs a car seat.

Just soliciting opinions on what size car I should get. We have had issues with luggage to and from the airport (staying at Orange Lake CC). I will have a large suitcase, my wife will have a larger one (of course), and my son should have one of his owh. Combine this with a laptop bag and other carryons and we have a carfull.

Which would you choose? Using the codes for National, I am down to $262.xx for a full size and $23x.xx for intermediate.

The price difference between the two has not been much in my experience. And a full-size you will probably be more comfortable in . The past trip with out 13 month old we had a full-size and it was jam packed. Of course we had a lot of baby gear you won't have but I don't think we could have made it in an intermediate. My recommendation is definitely to go with a full-size.

I am just back from a vacation in Hilton Head, where my family and I rented a full size from National. We had two large suitcases, two small (kids) suitcases, two backpacks and two carryons, along with a huge golf bag, and had plenty of room in the trunk. Getting the full is a good money saving option. Also - we used our Entertainment card and saved a bunch on the rental - the $25.00 we paid for the Entertainment Book was saved along with some extra $$$!

I would like to suggest taking the empty suitcases you plan to use, the car seat, and bring as many other items (or equivalent sized ones) to a neighborhood rental agency and ask them if you can see if your stuff can be loaded in it. You should know by the end of this exercise.

Also, if you know what car company you will be using (or prefer to use), sign up for their fast pass like service. I had a speed card from Budget and was able to go straight to the parking garage to get my car at MCO. This allowed us to bypass the large line at the Budget counter and be the second one at the window for pick-up! They also took the Entertainment Book coupons (as was mentioned earlier) at the window.

Just FYI......you might want to consider using 2 smaller bags instead of one big one, if you are concerned about space. You can frequently manipulate the smaller bags easier, fitting more in the trunk, than with one or 2 big bags. Also, if you get stuck, a suitcase can go at the feet of your son.
