Hi there.

We have a one night reservation at HHI on points, with a waitlist for the second night we require.

I decided to book the other night with cash reservation and have paid $412 (full rate)for a studio!!

Member services told me that there was no discount available!

Is a DVC member discount not available on all room rates?

TIA

The discount is for rooms made available ble to DVC which does not include all rooms available and also does not include all posible times, e.g., often they are not available, if at all, for a designated time, until you are much closer than 7 months out.

I was just wondering about booking a cash resie there too. I have a 2BR booked on points in Aug. My mom and her BF are joining us and asked to see about them getting their own room. The online booking shows nothing available so does that mean there is no way at all? And can we get an AP discount?

If you are looking at the member site, there may be rooms on the cash side available (cash inventory is different than points inventory and received from owners trading out to do things like cruise or from points owned by DVD and not owned by members). However, it isn't likely, and you aren't likely to get a discount. Summer is a busy time at HHI. They have sold enough points to fill the resort year round - and people prefer Summer to the other seasons.

Both the member site (for points) shows no availability and the CRO online thing also shows no availability. I know it's tough (that's why we bought there ;)) so I should have figured no discount...duh. I wonder if I should waitlist a studio for my mom or I could request a lock-off 2BR and let her have that studio while my 3 teens sleep in the living room on the sleepers. The lock-offs are in the Lodge building which we didn't like and wanted to be closer to the pool. So, do I give up 45 points or do I give up a better location?

Sheesh. I booked a two bedroom walking distance to the beach for $500 for 5 nights. And last week I paid $199 a night for the Marriott on the beach. No way I would pay that rate.

You could waitlist, or you could haunt the website. Or you could say "gee, Mom, I looked, but its completely sold out - I would have needed to know around Christmas to get you a room."

You could certainly waitlist and then if it comes through give up 45 points and the location - if you really like your Mom. I tend to stick to my original plans when other people want to change them past the point at which its easy to change :)

Thanks!! I know...I have been asking her to join us on this trip since I booked it. But she's one of those 'I can't think about that this far out' people....uggghhh! I think I might request a lock-off for our 2BR and call it a day.

We booked last August we own at HH very small amount of points. We have 3 nights on cash at 385 with 435 with tax and booked 11 months out. We did points 11 months out.

The lock-offs are usually reserved only as Studios and 1BR villas unless needed for a HCA reservation. There are only 21 lock-offs at the resort and no dedicated Studios or 1BRs.

You can certainly call MS but I would not expect to be able to reserve a lock-off.

Good Luck! :)

I went ahead and waitlisted a studio for my mom. If we get it, she'll be good to go and if not she and her BF can take the studio part of our 2BR. I'd prefer dedicated anyway as they are closer to the pool...so we'll see what happens.

At first I thought your question was about whether or not HHI ever had Members' cash rates. I know they do-I book them all the time, but off season, when studios can be had for $100 or less. But as a PP said, there is only a set # of villas available on MC, and apparently they were all sold out so you were offered only the full rate. But to me, $412 is kind of steep.
