My sister and her family just arrived yesterday and I chatted up with her a bit a little after 3pm and she told me that they had already checked into the hotel, did AK and were now in MGM. And from the sound of thier plans for the rest of the week they seem to be going full on Comando Style. They also plan to only devote a half day each at MK and Epcot, which I thought was a bit strange seeming that I think both parks are full day parks. They're there for a full week so it's not like they don't have the time. She claimed it was because 2 out of the 3 kids were teens now and are not really interested in Disney as much as they use to be(but they keep going back year after year).

While I can understand that one might like to hop from one park to another do you ever fell like you're missing out on the Magic of Disney by running from park to park? And after all said and done do you feel like your dead tired and in need of another vaca? We're leaving in a little under two weeks and we're gonna be there for 10 days and I sometimes feel like there's still so much I missed or didn't cover. Am I the only one? :confused3

We're staying 5 nights in Sept and are planning to visit one park each full day we're there (we don't have hoppers); we really couldn't afford to do it any other way without hurting our pocket books. I'm wondering if we can do each parks in one day (my goal is to take our time and see the "must sees", and if we miss something, then we miss it; we can always go for another vacation and get the things we missed the first time); I can't imagine doing one in half a day!

Oh I can see it, especially after they've been there often.

You get used to which attractions you love and which you have seen and can miss every now and then. So hit your favorites at those parks and then go play where you have the most fun.

You know how it is, some love some attractions and some don't. That's the beauty of it, something for everyone. The cool thing is how we often come full circle.

At 41, my thrill ride junky status is waning and things like Mickey's Philharmagic thrill me more than RnR. To each his own, the only requirement is to have fun. :thumbsup2

I agree with Claymax - After you've been alot, you know what you want to do & what you don't mind skipping. We have been several times, so our way of touring wouldn't work for someone who has never been or has only been a few times. We go for about 5-6 days & only do half days in the Parks most of the time. But, we never feel like we are missing anything & we always know that we'll have plenty of opportunities to see stuff we miss on future trips.

When DH & I go, we hardly do any attractions at all, we go for the Food & Wine Fest & don't even step foot in MK or MGM. It never bothers me because I know the next trip, I'll see those.

At this point in our "Disney Lives" it's more about Relaxation, Pampering, Indulging than about Commando Attractions. We tend to wander, absorb the Unexpected Disney Magic, focus on things we love & spend lots of time lounging, swimming & eating signature meals.

I am definitely not the "commando" type. My planning includes ADR's and I try to hit MK on evening EMH. We go for 10 days, also. I devote at least 1 full day for each park, and we break up EPCOTWS because the kids find it boring. Otherwise we hop. We see the things we missed on the 1st day, or the things we like to see again. We get up late if we are tired, we lounge at the pool a little. We don't do the water park option because the kids are just as happy to splash in the hotel pool. We have TS meals at every dinner (we use DDP)
Personally, I don't find much fun in rushing from thing to thing, commando style. I like to take my time, enjoy things, do things over if somebody wants. I don't like to come back from vacation more tired than I left!

I'm not a hopper myself. I find we get too tired.....and we spend a lot of time en route that could be better spent doing other things. Now...if I had a very limited time, just a couple days say, then I would probably hop and just deal with the tiredness.

I'm not a comando but I do like to hop. We usually need that midafternoon hotel/pool break and then at night hit a different park. Sometimes I leave feeling we saw everything there is to see and sometimes I know we missed things, but we always leave feeling relaxed and happy.

We are sooooo Comando!!! For example we arrive at 7:21am eastern which is actually 4:21am to us after flying most the night will go to DTD until early afternoon relax at ChefMickey's for an hour or so and off to EPCOT until closing at 12:30am thewn get up the next day by 7:30am and do it all again for nine more days!!!!! My DD9 has been doing it this way since she was 2 and just like it betterwhen we go,go,go!! (Okay I admit it me too!! )
