We're taking our DDs (6/9) to Disney for the first time in January and we're flying in late afternoon on a Sunday. After checking into AoA, we're having dinner at CM that evening.

  1. Can we take the bus to the TTC and ride the monorail to CR?
  2. How long would it take to ride around the whole MK loop and is that even a fun thing to do?
  3. Have I used enough acronyms in this post yet? :rolleyes2

You cannot take the bus to the TTC. However, you can take the bus to the MK and then monorail to the CR. DH and I are sitting here debating, but I THINK the monorail goes straight to the CR from MK (1st stop). You would think I would know this since I just stayed there in March, but my memory is a little fuzzy!!!

I honestly don't remember how long it takes to make it all the way around (stopping at each resort), but I feel like it was in the vicinity of 30-45 minutes (but maybe I was having so much fun that time got away...). I think it is a fun thing to do. It's fun to get off and explore the resorts, in my opinion.

You can't ever use too many acronyms in a post. :)

And now reading back over this...I'm not sure that I've helped you at all!

One of our favorite things to do on our arrival day is take the resort monorail. We get off at each resort and walk the grounds.... we shop in the gift shops and soak up all the Disney we can. We are always a bit tired after flying, so this is a perfect way to fire up the magic...... the best part is that it is FREE! We do get off at MK and stand outside the gates..... wow, does it get everyone amped to go in the next day. It is so hard not to go in right there, but we know we'll be there for rope drop the next morning.

Depending on your time of day, the loop can take 20-40 minutes, with the most time being spent loading at MK.

FYI, you can't take a bus from AoA to TTC. Resort buses go directly to MK. So, you could either take the resort monorail to CR, which is the first stop or walk there from the bus stop. It is about a 5 minute or less walk. I have done it many times. You could then start on the resort monorail after Chef Mickey's and make the loop all the way around to MK, where you could catch your bus back to AoA.

Have fun!

Will we have to get off the train to see anything interesting or can we just stay on the train and get a view of MK and the resorts?

You can get a view of MK and the outside of the resorts. It is a fun ride. I like to walk around, but you don't have to.
