Full Hookup/Preferred Campsite

What is the difference between full hook-up and preferred campsites? Is it just that the preferred sites are more convenient to certain areas? Those of you with pop-ups, what kind of site do you usually get? I would like cable hook-up but wouldn't need a sewer hook-up.

Preferred sites have cable TV hook up, and are closer to the Settlement area. All preferred sites have sewer connections.

For us, we have split between trips on preferred and full hook up sites. We don't usually end up using the cable and I find most preferred loops are slightly smaller sites.

We go the full hookup sites. We have done the preferred, but like being closer to the pool and meadows area. I agree that they are smaller sites in the preferred area. Also, a lot closer together. Don't watch much TV, so don't need cable. Too many other things to do at the fort.

I was gonna say, we just came back from a week in a preferred sites, and the non preferrred sites were larger than our site by far.

We love to stay right in the middle. It is nice to walk to the pool or the store. Plus if buses tend to be slow we will walk back to our site. We do like full hook up but not preferred.

I just saw a pic someone had posted on another thread of the campsite they had in the preferred section. The neighbouring site looks to be REALLY close, I think they were on site 506?, are all the preferred sites that close together, with no "bush" in between? I've seen pictures of sites where there are lots of trees between the sites and you can hardly see your neighbours. Are the full hook-up sites wooded like that or would they be just the partial hook-ups?

We had a preferred site in the 100 loop last week. Yep, they were pretty close as well, with just a few bushes between sites. But I enjoyed being walking distance to Pioneer Hall/Docks, and the cable was great for catching football.

Some prefered sites are better than others. Technically, the only difference is cable and the proximity to popular areas. THe sites themselves are not meant to be any closer together than the regular sites. Also, when you bring a popup or small camper, you tend to get sandwiched into all the small sites where they can't fit the guests with 40' motorhomes and fifth-wheels.

The amount of "bush" in between will have alot to do with how recently it has been cleaned out to reduce fire risk.

The picture I'm referring to is on this thread, page 2

The two RVs are basically side by side with maybe 4 feet of grass in between. Is that a typical "preferred" site?

WOW!!! Those 2 sites do appear to be close!!!!!

I have never experienced that at FW, and we usually do stay in preferred. Herre is a photo of our last site, #106. As you can see there is some vegetation between us and our neighbors. Some are better than this too.

You didn't happen to be there towards the end of last week? We were in Site #104 from 10/29 - 11/4. A trailer similiar to yours arrived later in the week. They had the Pirate Mickey, Pirate Banner, and a Mickey lamp on the hitch. Small world if we were neighbors ...

We spent the halloween week in loop 100 at site 124. Right between two massive units, one a triple axle 5th wheel and the other a nice class a. Our original site was to be 101 be the fine folks didn't want to move out in time for them to prepare the site for us. When we complained, they finally put us in 124 which was great. Nice and big for a popup and our first FW visit. Close to the boat and dining area and buses. The other popups seemed to be on smaller sites in the loop. Next time we might move over to the 1600-1900 loops if we bring our dog.

We arrived on Friday around noon, and our neighbors in 104 pulled out with their motorcoach Saturday!!!! :sunny: Isn't that something!!! :) You could have stayed for another day, no one was in 104 when we left on Sunday!!!!! :thumbsup2

On our most recent visit the weekend before Halloween this year, we checked in on Thursday, and the castmember gave us the choice of the preferred loop we would like to be in. We choose 300. We probably got the most crowded site on the loop! Check out this photo, that is my tow vehicle, and golf cart. Our camper is behind. We were right next to a huge 5th wheel, and there was practically no space between the sites. My awning was literally about four feet from the side of the 5th wheel! It was like camping in a parking lot. The thing is-I asked for it! Oh well, it is the first time we didn't like our site. We are going back for Thanksgiving this year, and will be in a full-hookup. We will definitely have more space.

Which loops are still Full Hookup? And non-pet? It seems as though they've made several full hookup looks preferred now.
