Hi All!
I am thinking about buying this camera. Currently I have a Kodak easy share, less that pleased with the quality of pictures and now it is draining the batteries (even the rechargable ones made for digital cameras) in a matter of hours), so I really want a new camera before we leave on Friday.
I am far from a pro but want a little more than a fit-in-your-pocket point and shoot.
Does anyone have this camera, would you recommend it?

TIA!!!

Although I haven't used the s1500 we had a previous version of this camera, the S700. The S1500 addresses the 2 big concerns we had with the 700, namely image stabilization and power consumption. This review also cites image quality and speed as a concern, however we found the image quality to be great on the S700. As for speed, well it's not a DSLR so it is what it is. The zoom is what sold us on the camera originally, for the focal range this camera offers you can't beat the price! I would try one out hands-on and see what you think of it.

Hey everyone,

I have been using a basic digital camera, and wanted to take a step up to a better camera for the trip.

Has anyone heard or had one of these cameras, and are they worth the price of around $160. I think they may be an older model, but wanting to start somewhere.

Would like to be able to take pics of the parades and at night for the fireworks, and basically just take pics of the kids at the beach and sports.

Any help would be great.:thumbsup2

I think you may want to evaluate your need for a new camera?

What's a "basic camera"? Do you have a brand/model for us? I would generally consider any camera bought for under $200 still a "basic" model so what does your current camera do that you want a new camera to do?

Can you not take pictures of the parades with your current "basic" camera due to lack of zoom? Does your current camera not have manual controls for fireworks? Do you even want to deal with manual controls and possible use of a tripod?
