i have nipped over from the uk trip planning gaff and am thinking of buying a cheapish but hopefully good camera for my daughter for our trip,i have a fuji finepix A210 which is fine for me but my daughter loves it and i may give her that(anything for a quiet life  )which may leave me without one,i want to spend around £100 or $185 at todays rate :smooth: i cant have too much technical mumbo jumbo just want good picture and easy menu's.i have been told Nikon is a far better lense is this your experience or not all help welcome :thumbsup2

My understanding (and I haven't been following the entry-level market for a while so hopefully I won't be flamed too hard if someone disagrees!) is that Nikon entry-level cameras tend to be a bit inferior to the competition - their heart is in the SLR/DSLR market. Fuji concentrates more on the non-SLR market (only one DSLR and it's a pretty high-end one), most of their point-n-shoot cameras are generally good with above-average image quality, the only real downside are the non-standard memory card usage (may not be an issue as you already have a Fuji) and their long zooms haven't incorporate CCD image stabilization yet.

Of course, specific models may be better or worse than the "status quo" for that brand, so you'll want to check reviews for specific models if you some in mind.
