Fuel cost for a full tank with a Ford Escape

Don't know if I've got the right place but I'm just looking at booking my car hire for next year when we come over to WDW and there's different ranges of car hire we can get.

I'm trying to work out how much a full tank of fuel would cost on a Ford Escape (or similar) as the basic charge I would have to hand the car back with a full tank of fuel, when we've been before we've always had the extra driver and take back with an empty tank, but we are trying to save as much as we can this time as we are going back a year earlier. We are staying for 3 weeks and are staying off site about 20 mins away from Disney

TIA :thumbsup2

Rental agencies require residents of some countries purchase the prepaid gas plan. Sometimes a tour operator combines insurance and gas.
Otherwise the best (cheapest) is to rent the car with a full tank and return it with a full tank. Just driving from airport and around Orlando? I doubt you'll even use half a tank. Drive to the Keys and you'll go through more then a tank

I don't have to purchase the prepaid luckily :) We are booking everything ourselves to try and keep the cost down

We are there for 3 weeks so would be filling up at least twice, (done this on previous visits), as we are staying off site about 20 mins from Disney. It's going to cost me an extra £114 ($178) for an extra driver and bring it back empty, just wondering how much I would be paying for the extra driver :)

I first posted from a phone and didn't get a chance to read your tag. Most rental agencies require UK residents purchase the tank of gas and "insurance". You'll probably get your best rate either using a "code" intended to be used by residents of the UK (include gas and insurance) or book through a third party which includes those options.

You might post in the UK forum.

Book direct. Some of the codes, such as AAA and COSTCO typically waive the extra driver fee. Joining the Alamo Insiders Program generally waives the extra driver fee.

Thanks, just wanted to work out how much a full tank of fuel would be in $

I drive an escape and when my car tells me I am approaching empty there is always more gas than I think left. I spend about $40 to fill mine each week

It does not matter how many tankfuls of gas you go through. It almost always costs more to buy a tankful up front and bring it back "empty" compared with not buying a tankful up front and bringing it back full.

If you have a choice, never, ever chose not to return a rental car with a full tank of gas. Rental companies will always charge you more for the gas than you would pay to do it yourself.

The OP is from the UK. He doesn't have a choice.

The rental agencies selling the prepaid gas option quote a per gallon price slightly below the current pump price. The price you see at the pump is the total price you pay. The price quoted by the agency is subject to all the taxes charged on car rentals. Do the math. Literally returning the car with no gas, running out of gas while returning your car, probably won't save you any money.
