I am hearing this 2nd hand but I beleive that BA and Virgin are slapping some fuel charges from Monday. I was told if you have a deposit on a holiday then you have to pay any increases but if you have paid the balance then you do not get charged. I am going to pay off ours with our agent on Monday to US Airways as Oil prices are continuing to be exploited.

I'm sure I read the news somewhere last week.

Guess it could mean a considerable increase for people still to pay the balance for their fares.

Does that apply if you have booked flights separately or to everyone? I have booked flights and hotel together thru Virgin and havent paid the balance so will I have to pay extra? Also how much are we talking about??

Just phoned Virgin to check and was told that so long as you have already paid the deposit for your holiday then you won't be liable for any further fuel surcharge. If you haven't yet booked and do so from Monday then the surcharge will increase from £32 return per person up to £48 :(

I guess with the price of oil rising by 40% or so since the beginning of the year this kind of increase was inevitable - hopefully if oil prices dip they will reduce the charge just as quickly.

Hmmm, That'll be a first..

Might be better if they peg back the extra lump of mash or bangers on the UC suites rather than bumping up the price of normal peoples flights.
