“Fuego,” a cigar bar run by the Sosa family, opened in PI a few months ago, but I’ve yet to see a review. Adventurer’s Club opened late last night, Raglan Road was packed, so I stopped in here out of boredom. I came away very impressed.

The bar is located under the DJ’s booth; the entrance is by Raglan Road’s patio. (Like Raglan Road, no PI ticket required.) Be warned, space is tight. A dozen or so bar stools, and an upholstered bench seat along the wall that could sit maybe 20. Don’t know if it gets crowded here, but it wouldn’t take even 40 people to pack it out.

The décor is very “hip”—it definitely feels more modern and edgy than the other PI clubs. The bar is made of cloudy glass, so it resembles smoke, and there is a cool stone/glass sculpture behind the bar. Another wall is brown and painted to suggest tobacco leaves. There are the small hanging lights I associate with artsy places hanging over the bar. Up-tempo Latin music plays in the background. In a way, what Raglan Road does for Ireland, this place does for Cuba, just on a smaller scale.

There is a full liquor bar, as well as several bottled beers and wines. They also serve espresso and cappuccino—real stainless-steel machine, pump-driven espresso, too, not something from a powder. The bartender called his manager over to make a cappuccino, because “he makes the best one.” Watching him build it was a show in itself, like watching an artist at work. I just had two beers, but prices were right in line with the rest of PI.

Fuego is a cigar bar. No walk-in humidor, but the wall behind the bar is lined with one; not the largest selection I’ve ever seen, but certainly more than, say, the local ABC. Be warned, smoking is encouraged here, and there is a heavy smell of tobacco. However, for me, the difference between cigarette smoke and premium cigar smoke is worlds apart. This is far more pleasant than being stuck in Jelly Rolls on a particularly smoky night. Not surprisingly, the manager really seemed to know his cigars.

While I don’t know that I could spend a whole night here, if you enjoy a nice cigar, or just want a taste of something more “mature” at Disney, I definitely recommend stopping by Fuego on your next trip to DTD.
