If you go online at WDW you can book a "Fairytale" package. But the prices are high. I was quoted $886.50 for 5 nights June 7-17 at POR--but this does NOT includes tickets. This is off the price quote:

Preference Match (What is this?)
WDW Moderate Resort No Tickets

Special Offer! Add Park Tickets and save over retail prices.

That makes it $177.30 per night. Isnt that more than rack rate? I know I must be missing something but I can't figure out what it is.

I was thinking sorta the same thing....

I just tallied up 4 nights for 4 adults and 2 children with 2 rooms at an AS for value season for 4 nights (assuming 3 free nights) including UPH and by my count it is approximately $2600 for my family under the new "visa deal".

If I price it out under the old Fairytale Package with 4 nights (assuming I am getting 3 free) it is $2182. So the old Fairytale package would be a lot less.

I guess I would still save a chunk of money but I really dont want the extras that the Dream Maker package includes.

I am pricing this out wrong!? I was checking this out because we DO NOT have a disney visa yet and was thinking we might get it for this package.

I wonder why the FTP with the Visa card has UPH and the one online you have to pay extra for the tickets.

The one online is NOT the Fairtytale package that people are talking about. Last year they had a DIFFERENT Fairytale package that was the 7 for the cost of 4 deal. So people are calling this new Disney deal the "Fairytale Package" even though that is not the real name. After LAST year's Fairytale 7 for 4 deal ended, Disney came up with a different package (but not as good) and called it the Fairytale - maybe to confuse people?

I know its not the same one as Bank one and you can definetly tell its not the same as last year since its not a good deal at all in my opinion. But I think it is to confuse people.

I get a quote of $160 a night for a standard view at a mod, which would be rack rate plus tax for that time of year. So you're really paying rack rate and getting a free print and pin.

I did a package on line and then did just the room only for 8 nites, then I called WDW resv directly and it was $100.00 less for the room.

If you have a AAA card and want a 'room only' reservation, call WDW directly. I did a quote online for a room at Pop Century for 1 night in September (after our cruise) and it was $30 more online than what I was quoted when I called WDW directly and asked for the AAA discount (got a room for $69 a night).

I was shocked at the difference in price from online to what I got over the phone. I won't be using their online system for booking rooms after this experience.

One thing I noticed about making reservations on line is that they automatically put you in the highest price category for that resort. For instance, I did a quote for Pop Century and it gave me Preferred View automatically. You have to carefully look that it is Preferred view and then manually change it to standard view and then refresh. When I tried the Beach Club, it put me in Water View Concierge automatically!! That's when I noticed it!! No wonder so many people think Disney is too expensive! Imagine you are the average Joe just pricing out the cost and you really don't know about the different views, costs, etc. it would seem really expensive!

I don't understand why you think that. That Disney is trying to purposely confuse people.

Because they called a package that is NO where near as good a deal by the same name!!!!!! This definitely confused people, based on what I have seen on the DIS boards. I have seen many posts by people who ask why their Fairytale package isn't as good a deal.

maggiew, I just went back and checked and you are right! I didn't even noticed that they only quoted me the 'preferred view' rooms. It was still $15 cheaper to book on the phone with my AAA card, but if I didn't have a AAA card I probably would have just thought that this quote was 'as good as it could be'.

Thanks for pointing that out!

I noticed that they always put you in the preferred rooms, kinda annoying lol. Last nite I was havinga problem p getting a qoute for the basic package. I asked for the basic package but it kept quoting the dreammaker package grrrrr. I am planning on getting an ap, so why would I want the dream maker package with uph? lol
