Ft. Wilderness with a boarded dog

I talked to Best Friends earlier this week and she said they were 8 months out before opening. She didn't say anything about closing that location (but why would she).

The discussion about whether or not the Fort kennel will be closing got me to thinking about where I got that idea in the first place.

So, using the friendly search feature, I went looking for the threads that I thought I remembered reading about this.

I found these two:

FW Kennel Clarification

Rumor? moving FW kennel to central location

So, a year ago, several Disboard members reported that the Fort kennel would be closed, and that a new centralized location would be open in mid-2009.

Now, an employee told Disboard member doxxie that the new facility would be open in 8 months.

Does anyone know if ground has even been broken on the new facility?

Does anybody know the supposed location of the new facility other than Bonnet Creek Parkway?

ftWildernessguy/Jim might be right, maybe the project has been scrapped.

My doggie is a rescue dog too, with big separation problems. But she has always done wonderfully at the kennels. When she was there, she knew I was going to come and spend time with her, and she loves the field next to the kennel. She'd bark a bit when we left her, but she never joined in if some one else walked in (according to carol and lynn).
I'm not a fan of best friends or the people that work there. So now I get a full hook-up site/pet loop and take her home if I'm gonna be away from the campsite.

There's a lot of construction going on at the corner of bonnet creek and vista blvd, and they have installed the new four way street light. That's where the new Four Seasons Resort is going to be and the new kennel. Part of the big deal with this is all the kennels will lead to an outdoor run and to a play field. I will definatly not be taking Kiani to the new place, because you know they're going to do major price increase with all these new features.

And I feel the same way, people are going to be ticked when the kennel leaves the fort. And it's going to make it harder for people to get to their pets, so they'll probably see a major decrease, because people will leave their dog at home instead.

Yeah, it does seem like might be shooting themselves in the foot re: the whole pet thing.

On the one hand they build a dog park and effectively make nearly all loops "pet friendly" but then they're making the kennels extremely inconvenient for people by moving them off site. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. :confused3
