My parents will be staying at the Ft Wilderness Campground next January when we head to WDW... we will be staying at either the Poly or GF. Now, for us, transportation to MK, Epcot, etc will be super convenient... but for them, I'm not so sure. I wonder if I should suggest that they rent a car and drive to us then take the monorail? Has anyone had experience with this?

They have boat service to the TTC or to the Contemporary. There is also bus service to the parks/TTC.

The boat ride is really nice and relaxing, does not take long either.

Oh that's great to know... esp. if we stay at the Poly-- isn't the TTC right there? I'm such a WDW novice!!!

Yes, the boats/buses would actually take them to the front of the MK, not the TTC, sorry. They can either get onto the Resorts Monorail or the Poly boat. Might be bit longer of a trip than a rental but definately cheaper!

I'm just trying to figure out if the cost might be worth it... my parents (okay, my dad!!!) is not much for waiting! I found a website that said it can take up to 30 minutes to get from the campgrund to some of the other parks???

Well you can get a boat from either WL or the Campgrounds that takes you right to Contemporary within about 5-10 mins and then they could hop on the monorail and go wherever.

(I was just on that boat yesterday)

oh and the buses may run that long, not sure. I know my friend and I waited on an AK bus for about 30 minutes, we had just missed the bus by about 45 seconds - this is from WL.
