Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

Maybe at 7 years they’ll update internal fixtures, bedding, etc. (normal soft goods refurb), then at 14 years they’ll haul ‘em off and replace with new (full refurb).
For sale: used trailer, some cosmetic damage, LOL.

My guess is DVC kicks these trailers down the line as long as they can, like they have with other buildings. I don't know how a 30 year old trailer is going to look when DVC is in charge. Hopefully better than the current 30 year old trailers look, but maybe not. At least cash has customers with other options. I mean, cash is turning these over because they don't want to pay for new ones. This seems like the kind of thing DVC should have a plan and schedule for.

Florida now has local manufactured home builders that meet all Florida hurricane standards and are super energy efficient with newer types of foam cell construction that boasts better soundproofing than some homes.

One of them in coco beach has a 500 sq foot 1 br model that would fit the bill nicely with some Disney mods.

Question with that then, Historically Disney has emptied the FW cabins during hurricanes; do you think the new cabins will make this unnecessary?
The treehouses are emptied because they are in a flood plain; they are right on the river. ( they did not build them 10 feet off the ground to be cute)

The cabins are also in a flood plain but I have not heard that was the actual reason or that the risk is as severe as the treehouses.

Well, that’s what the Capital Reserves part of the budget is for, right? Save up for a “to the studs” refurbishment after 14 years. If the life span of these manufactured homes is longer than 14 years (like the roofs of the regular buildings, right?) then I guess they do as close to “to the studs” as is possible vs. replacing them completely.

I’m pretty sure the concerns about downed trees at FW are just as significant as those about flooding. I haven’t been to FW after a hurricane, but I sure remember the number of trees down along the Epcot monorail route after a hurricane (Charley? 2004?) came through a number of years ago, and I think FW was closed for quite some weeks last fall after that hurricane.

If they try 300-400 per week (and people pay it) I think that’s crazy. A Treehouse around my travel week is around 330 points. 300-400 is a 1BR at Riv or GFV in that same timeframe.

200-250/week depending on season would be a bit more palatable for what’s being proposed. That’s back to SSR/AKV 1BR level. BLT Standard View 1BR with two bathrooms is even as low as 247 for a week, which is more desirable to almost everyone.

Sleeps 6, lots of outdoor space, has boat to MK, stand alone building.

Also have to remember that I think a part of the point charts is the MF range. I suspect they want them in that $8-$10 range so based on expected annual costs that could impact it as well.

Not sure how the upkeep would compare for here vs other places as it's all stand alone spread out buildings.

Well... as they've shown with VGF, they could just roll these right on in to Copper Creek. Probably will sell people on "hey, you can get one of those CCV studios now at 11 months1"

(Said sarcastically as a disgruntled VGF1 owner... :) )

I think they would be hard pressed to do thst because these are not even at the same location as WL.

Oh, I know, I was just making a sarcastic comment in relation to VGF1 owners :)

Yeah.. you get to be that way as a VGF1 owner…especially because people like me added on to stay in the real VGF rooms!!!

Same. Bought a VG2 contract specifically to stay in the OG 2 Bedrooms. Guilty as charged.
This absolutely cannot be true. Before sales of VGF2 even started, I hinted at people buying VGF2 in order to stay in the larger villas in the original building and was dismissed as being out of my mind and assured that there would be plenty of VGF1 owners lining up to book in the resort studios (because why wouldn't you want to switch into a villa that doesn't even have a kitchenette) and that it would all balance out. 😉

lol. I remember that argument. Even then, I thought you were 1000000% correct.

I switched from VGF to RR due to that discussion- since I only want deluxe studios. I hope VGF3 adds some deluxe studios and lock offs in.

I'm still betting on "won't be materially harder at 11 months" but I'm the naysayer in this group.
