I am so excited!! I was able to change my reservation from August 10th - 17th at pop to August 8th -16th at fort wilderness, where ds and I will have our own cabin! I am very happy that we will have a separate bedroom...DS has to be in bed early and I'm more of the up all night type! Also..does anyone know how close the smoking areas are to the cabins? I've looked at the maps..but I have no idea where the cabins are!

Can someone point me in the direction of a fort wilderness cabin thread? I've checked out the camping at disney forum but it seems to be for tent campers and rv users :)

I've heard that you can still smoke on the cabin decks at Ft. W.

I am sure you can smoke outside on your own deck~You will love the cabins! If you have any ??? ask...
On the maps the cabins are the ones at the bottom on the left. They are numbered like 2300,2500, etc.

I have heard that Ft Wilderness has not a single "quick service" or "counter service" place to dine.

If one buys or receives the Disney Dining Plan, where do you use your "quick service" or "counter service" vouchers???

I was hoping that perhaps the Trail's End would quietly accept the "quick service" or "counter service" vouchers. Anyone have any experience with this, or any ideas?

There is no quick serve at FW, you can go to WL or CR which are both a boat ride away(WL can also be reached by bus or walking path).

While the camping board looks like its only for campers, many of the regulars on the board do use the cabins too, so feel free to ask any questions over there.

In the past, the dining plan was not available for guests at the fort wilderness resort. However, as you can see from my sign on, this is my favorite place. It is so quiet. It is hard to believe that the Magic Kingdom is a boat ride away. They also have other fun stuff here such as fishing, pony rides, camp fires with Chip n Dale (smores), outdoor movies and the electrical water pagent passes the beach every night (weather permitting). We usually rent a golf cart (about $50) a day, but some people use bikes or the buses that run through the resort. If you do decide on a golf cart, I would make a reservation because they do sell out. A good thing to keep in mind is that you are outdoors and wildlife exists! My nephew came home with poison ivy from one of our trips to the fort. We have also seen various types of animals- from armadillos to peacocks. Oh yeah, don't leave trash or food on the deck of your cabin because the racoons will come and get it. As far as a designated smoking place, you can smoke on the deck of your cabin. Just be sure not to through your lit butts! We don't want the fort to go up in smoke:rotfl2: I am sure you will find this place peaceful and you will want to go back. Even when we don't stay at the fort, I always plan a day to visit. The kids love it almost as much as I do. Have fun!
