Has anyone rented a place in the Ft. Myers area or have a condo complex they can recommend. Looking for a 3-4 bedroom - close to beaches but with a nice pool - a community pool. Or a house that has a pool ?? Thanks

We are staying in Naples in this one right now. It's about 15 min from Vanderbilt Beach. 3 br. 2 bathrooms, large pool and a community pool also in the gated community of Briarwood. http://www.vrbo.com/420465 :thumbsup2

While Naples and Cape Coral may not seem that far away while looking on a map, it takes me way longer to get places than I think it will especially during the winter. For example, my old college is 15ish miles away and it would routinely take me around an hour to get there. The college I currently attend is right around 25 miles away, but it only takes me 45 minutes because I can take the interstate. Depending on where you're from those times might seem really long or really short.

Fort Myers Beach is also separate from the city of Fort Myers, so depending on where you are looking in Fort Myers you might not be as close to there as you might think.

I know that's not what you asked, but I hope that's helpful :)

Do you want to be near Ft Myers Beach or Sanibel Island? Not sure what your budget is. Not sure when you're going...

If it was off season, stay on the island if you like that atmosphere. Prices are about 30%-50% lower than in season.

You could try almost any high reviewed Sanibel resort (Most have pools), but we liked Casa Y'bele and Point Santo. Both were very nice 3BR Condos for the price, relatively speaking...$2k-$2500 offseason for a week. Captiva has South Shore both VRBO and direct. Nice pools. $2500-$3500 a week offseason. Double it during season.

Thank you for all the info. Looking at mid to end of September and would like to keep it at about $1500 for the week. Had not thought about Sanibel but will look into that area. Looking at enjoying the different beautiful beaches. And my niece loves to shell.

I live in Cape Coral and I would say you are better off not staying on Sanibel. Do a day trip for shelling and see the shell museum. But for more bang for your buck you would be better off in the Ft Myers beach area.

Thanks - that is the what I was thinking. We plan on being out and about a lot (girlie trip) and think Sanibel will be to far on a daily basis. I will keep looking in the Ft Myers area. Really thinking a condo might be best with a nice pool area after hitting the beaches and shopping.
