We're flying in to Ft. Lauderdale (because Southwest doesn't fly into Miami from Baltimore) and need to get into Miami. What's the best way--Town Car, shuttle, Uber? Any recommendations?

Brett

We used SAS shuttle and were pretty happy with them. The driver was even pointing out points of interest on the way. We had six and paid cash so it was $13 per person. If you have 5 people or less it's $15 and if you have 6 or more and pay with credit card it's $15.

One way rental cars work well to from airport to airport and you get a free shuttle from airport to port.

We rented a car at FLL last year but it was a very time consuming process. There is no car rental right in the terminal where you arrive, so first you have to take a shuttle to another area of the airport where all the car rental companies are. Can't walk there.
The shuttle to pick up the car rental took FOREVER. There were crowds waiting for these buses that came maybe every 10 min.
I would say from the time we landed (domestic flight) to when we finally picked up our rental car it took over 2.5 hrs.
In hindesight we should have paid for a cab to take us from arrivals to the car rental terminal. But there were 6 of us so it was a bit tricky. Oh and did I mention we had all our luggage while crammed in this shuttle?
Dropping off the car before our cruise out of Miami wasn't a piece of cake either. We dropped most of our party at the port while my husband and I went to take our rental back. We still had to get gas and that was a mistake on our part, should have done it on the way. It was not easy to find a gas station. It wasn't far but took a while to get there.
We stood in traffic everywhere.. we were gone for over an hour and our friends were wondering if we were coming back lol.
This might have just been our experience, maybe time of day we arrived I don't know.
We rented a car before near Port canaveral and in MCO and it was no problem.
If we ever have to fly to FLL we would take SAS as recommended on these forums.

We stayed at a hotel by the airport the night before and took SAS in the morning. We had a large group and the guy showed up early, loaded our luggage, and took us very quickly to the port. The longest wait was for the hotel shuttle to pick us up, but it was only about 15 minutes (seemed longer because I was wrangling a large, whiny group and a toddler at the same time. Not sure who was worse. No, wait, I'm sure, the grown adults were worse.)

We used SAS last time and from the airport to Miami I was very pleased. Now, on the way back (port to FLL) I was not so pleased. The driver was totally insane. He was going 80 mph down the freeway (yes, I actually looked at the speedometer) and was weaving in and out of traffic, changing lanes and was generally aggressively driving. This all with toddlers in the van that were not in car seats. It was NOT OKAY.

So this time around for our upcoming cruise, I did further research and found that SAS, who is often recommended her on the DIS is not well-liked on Yelp. However, I found two companies that have great reviews on Yelp and I will be contacting one of them for our upcoming voyage. I'm sorry I can't personally vouch for them, but here is the contact information if you want to look them up online or try one of them:
